Thoughts on Underwear

Thread Starter

Hi all, I'm a new user from the UK and thought I'd jump straight in with a question: do you give much thought to your underwear?

Long story short: I was in a very important business meeting test driving a Gucci suit I bought of Mr Porter and subsequently had taken in slightly to give it a better fit. I don't wear briefs, usually sticking to boxer trunks for comfort - but when I sat down after a couple of minutes I was anything but comfortable.

Is underwear something anyone else here seriously considers when putting together an outfit?

Edit: I can't spell

Boxer briefs are the best looking men's underwear, women find them attractive, and they fit much better under a suit than boxers.  They are also more comfortable imo than standard briefs.  TBH though I'm a commando guy myself...  But when I do wear underwear it's boxer briefs.

I prefer briefs above all but as gifts over the years I've amassed a collection of Brooks Brothers boxers that exceeds my briefs by a 4:1 ratio.

Chicks dig me because I rarely wear underwear and when I do, it's usually something unusual.

Andrew

Which brand were you using?

I wear boxer briefs low rise in the fall/winter and briefs for spring/summer depends sometimes I might wear boxer brief in warm weather if it's not entirely cotton.

I was wearing EA Boxer Trunks, with the thought process being that tight would not lead to them riding up. I found this topic which is on a somewhat related subject - good to see Sunspel getting a bit of love, however I find loose boxers to be really uncomfortable.

Also, thanks for the heads up regarding your testicles Snoopy.

Same here. fing02[1].gif

I don't like wearing boxers underneath jeans/pants. Also I experience a lot of "ride up" when wearing boxers underneath, not to mention my tool set does not feel comfortable. I wore boxers underneath jeans few years ago for 2yrs straight (wtf was I thinking?). One day I realized that my balls had stretched out so much touching my kneecaps. So I needed some other underwear to cup them in place.

I'm happy to report that today my balls are back in place. It's quite the miracle thanks to trunks/low rise boxer brief.

P.S: Welcome to the forum and btw you're welcome on the heads up (no pun intended).

I don't like to wear underwear with suits as it can break up the smooth lines of the suit trousers and depending on the type it can add unnecessary bulk to your butt and cause creasing in that area.

I understand what you mean, especially if the suit trousers are tighter or you have a huge arse. From my own personal experience, when wearing boxer trunks I don't have this problem as I have quite a muscular rear and the leg openings of the boxers don't show because they sit in a sort of bermuda triangle of safety. It's hard to explain without drawing a picture:

This will probably be the strangest thing I ever write on a forum... Worth it.

The descriptions of the areas in your diagram is wrong. I fixed it.

I had to exaggerate to better illustrate my point! Drawing on MS Paint is hard. I tried to find a guide on what to wear with what, and although it doesn't cover suits this mens underwear guide is probably the best that I came across.

I think blahman was talking about wearing loose boxers with tight suit trousers... I think?
