Goodyear construction fashion shoes

Thread Starter
I like quality shoes (goodyear construction), but I like fashion-forward about as much if even more. I don't own a ton of shoes so want to marry the two.

You'll probably laugh, but my first goodyear shoes were Paraboots and I LOVE them, but they're not quite streamlined enough for me. I like mostly French and Italian style cuts, but am I doomed to have to accept Blake construction (not that that is that bad, but I like something with a little more heft in the heel too).

Cheers!

Septieme Largeur????? They're not great but they are goodyear - see their thread here. I have a pair - construction is fine - still not convinced about the flexibility of the leather though.

Frankly you might be better off to stick to Blake construction. There's really not anything wrong with - just a little harder to find someone to resole them.

With 'fashion shoes' you may not care anyway. My experience is that these sorts of shoes are out of style before they need a resole anyway.

I don't make them the center of my shoe wardrobe. But I like to have a few pairs around for fun.

I have seen Boss Selection Goodyear welted ones. Pointly fashiony style, made in Italy, quality leather, price sucks though.

I have seen Jeffrery West shoes up close and I didn't feel them to be high quality, they are certainly 'forward ' in design but poor in other aspects.
How about Corthay , good quality materials and some modern design . Bear in mind they are all gemmed so may self destruct at any time:)
Good luck with your purchases

I like quality whiskey the way scotch people make it. Nothing like a good shot of white horse or, for special occasions, chivas on ice.

I visited a whiskey distillery in Scotland wearing a pair of gemmed shoes.

I doubt that very much. There is no whiskey distilled in Scotland.

I suspect some people simply relish ignorance.

Those who wallow in ignorance will undoubtedly dismiss the difference as unimportant but it is important in the same way that Vox's practical thoughts on coherent combinations are important. It is important if only because Scotch (and only whisky...not people...can be "scotch") predates whiskey--bourbon, rye and the like, by literally centuries.

I suspect the people who don't know or don't care are the same people who don't know and don't care if their faux alligator shoes are prints or not...might actually pay more for faux alligator than the genuine article if the brand were highly touted. Who will buy and rave about a particular brand of outsoling simply because of the logo stamped in the middle of the sole...nevermind how the leather is tanned or even what its functional characteristics are.

Meaning...that how you spell whisky is not important unless you're a poseur trying to impress other people. Or...you really do know what you're talking about--in which case it's critical.

Going to a whiskey distillery in Scotland in gemmed shoes is, however, all of a piece.

I suspect some people were snarking and simply made a spelling error.
