I'm going to HK, Shanghai, Bangkok and Singapore in a month or so, with 3-7 days in each city. Want to pick up some MTM suits and shirts along with socks/ties for work. I'm a junior banker so want to stay at 600-700/suit. I've done MTM once before with A&B, but am not confident in my ability to guide a reluctant tailor toward my exact desires, although I know the basics of wools, canvassing, pockets, waists and arms. I've heard Chan in HK and Narin in Thailand are pretty good and viable to work with. I would also like a nice fabric selection, my current client suit is made from high performance (lightwieght super150 basically) Zegna that feels nice and wears pretty well, and I've realized how much material matters.
Want full floating canvas suits, which I've heard is tough to get in Bangkok. Generally prefer conservative versions of Saville row styling, for which HK sounds perfect for (can get it slim and get the flourishes but their natural tendency to go old-school keeps it ok for work). Also is there any value to looking at Singapore vs HK? Some of the tailors in Singapore seem to have amazing fabric selections but not sure about their veracity.
Shirtmaker recommendations would be nice as well. I destroy shirts so I need a lot. Good quality cotton selection is important, as is hand-stitching quality at a price competitive with US-made OTR.
To give you an idea of my build, I am 5'11.5", wear a 14.5/34 dress shirt (BB, 15/35 CT) and OTR buy 38 suits and get the arms taken out and the collar/back (once the shoulder) taken in.
