Plum dress shirt w/ black dress pants: Yes or No?

No. Although there is nothing inherently wrong with combining a plum shirt and black pants, since black is a neutral, dark shirts are casual. They are not business shirts; they are "night out on the town" shirts.

Edit: Belt color should match (complement) your shoes. If you wear black pants, you limit your choice of shoes to black or perhaps burgundy, but not brown.

Where is this internship? If it is at a nightclub then sure.

Dark colored shirts look out of place during the day and many people (myself included) won't wear that shirt at any time. Just say no to black pants.

More information would be helpful.

Where is this internship? What is the dress code? What is your budget?

Yeah it's ok IMO. At the moment I am wearing a plum button-down shirt, cream chinos and oxblood Dr Martens boots.

:rotflmao: I really hope this is not in an office/business environment? At REI this would work.

I'm at home, but I would wear to the office. Most people at my office wear a T shirt, jeans and trainers believe it or not.

Typical intern dress. If you want to step it up, get some light blue shirts and grey (wool) trousers instead.

If you have no other options and no money, just wear it. They won't end your internship for doing so. But standard safe colors are white and light blue shirts, navy and grey for suits and trousers.
