Sure, let get to making all those infrastructure repairs that weren't already covered under the hugely politically divisive ARRA act, only on a scale four times larger. Hey, does anyone have $3.6T lying around? Rather than using it to plug up 20% of our national debt in one fell swoop, let's use it to fix our bridges that routinely crumble out from beneath us.

The American Society of Civil Engineers has no vested interest in provoking fear about crumbling infrastructure either.

Also, as any other engineer on this forum surely knows, Civil Engineers are the lowest in the hierarchy of engineers.

Really? Good to know.

Doesn't change the fact that our infrastructure is slowly collapsing and no one seems to give a shit because repairing roads, bridges, water lines and electrical grids isn't a sexy use of funding.

Why repair roads when you can spend 10x building new ones? That's 10x the jobs!

Hell Yes, unnecessary wars are the sexiest form of government spending,

Who needs a few worthless bridges and roads when we can use many $Trillions for wars with great returns like the Iraq and Afghanistan adventures.

As a Libertardian who is routinely told I wouldn't have a job without public roads the Dumbocrats and Rethuglicans sure like to spend money on anything but roads.

Mrs. Piob is a civil PE and senior PM for her company. Her concentration is transportation, i.e. designing roads. I completely endorse this spending to keep her six figure salary rising.

I also told her she is apparently the lowest form of engineer. She chuckled.

So what's considered the highest form? Electrical? Petroleum?

See, she knows. Surely they had inter-engineering rivalry where she went to school.

According to that chart she's worth more than everyone but the petrol folks. I guess being the least has nothing to do with pay...which is really the most important metric of any job in my book.

What about railroad engineers? Where do they fall in the engineer hierarchy?

Most beloved by eight year olds.

What of Social Scientist Engineers? They help preserve our lives. Children are raised by a village. They don't belong to you. You didn't procreate that.
