So, I'm friends with some casual friend of MrsG. I honestly have no idea why/how I'm FB friends with this woman, because I don't even know if I've met her in real life. I'm guessing she sent me a request at some point that I just accepted because she's a friend of the wife.

Anyhow, this woman is pretty much perfectly typical DU underground material, and she posted a link this morning about the latest round of animal abuse at a factory farm. I get objecting to that, but then it turned into the inevitable soapbox about how everyone should eat organically. My wife chimed in and basically said, "yes, in a perfect world, everyone would be able to eat organically, but the cost is substantial. Organic food is a luxury for most people, and they shouldn't be guilted or preached to just because they're doing the best they can within their personal constraints.

A third party, who has also been participating, responded to MrsG with:
Quote:
Interesting. I make $500 a month at my part time job. I am a student and am on food stamps, which just got cut. I manage to buy organic. Granted, I am single and have only myself to feed, but still, I buy it. It seems spendy at first, but in reality, it isn't. If you shop smart you save money with it.

Shame his/her food stamps got cut. I hope that doesn't force him/her to buy plebe food.

MrsG responded with:
Quote:
So wait a minute...you are on food stamps and buying organic??
So glad my tax payer money is paying for that...

I love my wife so very much.

Organic foods can also be factory farmed. Sometimes conditions are worse. Like because they can't give antibiotics to chickens they're very vulnerable to diseases and basically cannot get outside contact. The humans feeding them also have to wear a decontamination suit and then the chickens will never experience a loving human hand.

By far the best solution is to buy produce from a farm you've visited. I've found csa shares to be cheaper than buying conventional produce at a supermarket. If you don't have access to the above the best alternative solution is to starve for the good of the animals and vegetables that humans raise to be eaten.

A lawyer in Houston just got disbarred for accepting payments in cocaine.

He handled a lot of prostitution cases too, so he likely got paid in blowjobs too.

This one seems to be making the rounds...

Lol, we're not paying "our fair share" of the world's family planning costs? I would think our post-birth involuntary abortion of a hundred thousand Muslims would qualify.

Does anyone remember when some states mandated birth control for welfare women in the 90s? The charges of racism were nonstop. Racists are trying to make black people extinct!

Ah, good times.

I just PMed Munch to see if it's a Lawyer I know.

I don't want to put his name out in public. But a few years ago he avoided disbarment in a case involving his possession of an illegal gun and drugs, in the courtroom!

He routinely represents strippers and openly barters services for their "services". Is that illegal? I thought barter of services is generally OK.
