They wouldn't get anyone to work for them unless they imported foreign musicians. Anyone who worked for them would be blacklisted from any other work. It's a very small industry... 2 degrees of separation. Most people don't understand this.

The Louisville Orchestra tried this by posting ads on Craigslist. They started advertising in November 2011, but the lockout didn't end until April 2012. Isn't the plenty of time to put together a replacement orchestra if there are so many musicians so desperate for work?

Anyway, the model in this country is backwards. Musicians should employ managers, not the other way around. It works well enough in London, Berlin, and Vienna. Those musicians don't make nearly as much as musicians here, but they're a lot happier.

I don't check my FB very often, but 2 people emailed me this link

Ted Cruz’s Dad Wants to Send Obama ‘Back to Kenya’

And if I had to guess, it will be on my FB

I am certainly no BO fan. And I live in Houston. Though this is taken a bit out of context, I think it will not help Cruz except with his current hardcore supporters. Cruz was becoming a sort of isolated side show anyway and this won't help. Note though that Cruz didn't make the remarks and he said his father doesn't speak for him.

Every politician has some relative who is a piece of shit. There are many reasons to dislike Ted Cruz but this is not one of them.

"Send Ted Cruz's dad back to Canada."

No, I don't care that he's actually from Cuba and not Canada.

I believe that's valid grounds for dismissal

There are other orchestras out there, in fact, just down the road is the St Paul Chamber Orchestra. I mean the same argument can be made about other very specialized skills, but we don't feel the need to give them special protection.

If by "we" you mean the public, we don't. If by "we" you mean the employers with their employees why the fuck do I care?

Also, *whoosh*

The resident libtard of my fb friends list- the one who said she was fuming with rage because the faculty of her son's Episcopalian private school actually made him participate in religious activities!- had this to say:
Quote:
Today, the Rhino Times became Greensboro's most liberal publication. See evidence below.

(FYI: The Rhinoceros Times is a Greensboro tabloid with a right-leaning editorial bent, and its competitor is Yes! Weekly, a Greensboro tabloid with a left-leaning editorial bent.)

This is what she linked to:

She spent money to send her son to a private Episcopalian school and was surprised that they had him participate in religious activities? I refuse to believe this is real. confused.gif

Not surprised, shaking with anger! I regret not posting it here when it happened. It epitomized the worst of libtard entitlement more than anything I've seen.

Sending your child to a private religious school and expecting religious values to not be taught isn't entitlement, it's stupidity.

liberals always have the most over the top reactions to things. It's a cliche that someone contradicts their core beliefs and they respond with "Wow...Just, wow". It really makes them look like a bunch of overly emotional crybabies.

Eh. We had plenty of personal family traditions that often involved presents, so it wasn't all that bad. Hard part was that extended family pretty much only thought about presents at Christmas and birthdays (neither of which we did), so we ended up never getting anything from them. While watching them shower my cousins with presents.
