And, the empowerment of women is the best way (in fact, probably the only way) of reducing poverty in the world. Nine people myopically thumbed-up your post which sums up a lot of the members posting here. Is it irony or just coincidence, that there are an estimated 1.3 billion in poverty, and there are an estimated 1.2 billion Catholics? No, I don't think it is the only problem by any stretch, but the lack of contraceptives and abortions are fundamental to the mass poverty of the world.

Also, in the UK, 'cunt' means someone you hate, and is not used as a misogynistic term for women. (Although, I'm starting to see this all flaky, myself.)

Feel free to call blacks kaffirs. I hear its a type of lime.

Catholicism and poverty, the two go together like bread and butter.

Well, yeah. Esp when the Vatican says contraceptives are immoral. Yeah, they kinda do.

Then why has the Catholic church been so rich for oh, 1000 years or so? :roma:

Additionally, your idiotic statement presupposes high level of compliance with that edict. All data shows that's a bad thing to assume.

All the world's poverty would probably be eliminated if the Catholic Church would just liquidate its assets--I am sickened how the Church speaks of helping the poor, but never utilizes the full breadth of resources.

Is that a serious question or sarcastic/ironic?

Er... lots of children being born [into poverty]; Catholics are refused contraceptions, because of some backdated, moronic belief system. I think the opposite of your statement is pretty clear here.

Because of high stupidity levels in this thread, I am not sure whether this is sarcastic or not. If it isn't, I agree (that it's wrong). It's one of the reasons I think people like Mother Teresa were bad people, because they said things like poverty was God's will, as they side-stepped a dying child.

Wow. Did not think this conversation could get more retarded.

I don't think you understand the big words he used. He's saying real life data shows most Catholics actually use contraceptives even if technically they're not supposed to.

Right. Poverty would be eliminated if the church gave 1.3 billion people 40 bucks each

^^ I understood what he said; show me some data. Fact is, lots of babies are born and far less would be, if there was no Catholic Church.

Lol.

http://www.guttmacher.org/media/inthenews/2012/02/15/index.html

Now show me data that shows Catholic ban of contraceptives causes an increase in poverty.

In America, duh. You know, where women have a choice, and the country isn't poor (ha! Some would disagree); you've kind of proved my point.

Calling you a retard would be an insult to mental retardation
