1 and 2: Even if this is true, it's because we have a working (flawed, bur working) criminal justice system where crimes can be reported and criminals can be brought to justice. I am sure there is more rape per capita in Sub-Sarah countries than the usa that go unreported.

Wow only the worst in the developed world and many developing countries then, that's good.

3. I fail to see how this is a failing that could have been mitigated. Any industrialized nation today of same size and output will face same problem. That is why China is creeping toward #1. Could we do more? Yes, but even from this glimpse, if the Us alone cuts its emissions, it won't matter unless every other nation does so.

Yes way to show leadership U.S.A. U.S.A. U.S.A. !
Also I like your question "Could we do more"? Shouldn't that be "Could we do something"?

4. Divorce rate? Eh. Just a sign of freedom (USA USA!) Also, wtf is puerto rico doing there? Doesn't it belong to USA?

Give you that one.

5 I will say that teen birth rates have seen a decline, also, we aren't like scandanavian countries and Japan where the imminent fear of negative native population control is a problem.

Yaaay way to rationalize teen pregnancy as a good thing.

6.heart attacks are the unintended consequences of prosperity.

We're a bunch of fatasses and proud of it.

7. don't see point of this one really. Unhealthy eating habits? Ok. I hear they have McDonalds everywhere now....

True, but The U.S. is still number one U.S.A. U.S.A. U.S.A. ! Be proud man be proud.

8. Plastic surgery... Ok. We are too vain?

Plastic surgery is awesome, especially boob jobs.

9. Prisoners? What do you propose we do? We have a working criminal justice system that incarcerates people convicted of crimes.

What do I propose? How about stop criminalizing personal choices like drug taking, and spend some of the billions of drug war money on social justice programs?

Took me longer than 30 seconds to type as well, but obviously not to formulate.

I tend to agree with the analysis on #1

Just one quick check on #2 - rape per capita USA isn't even in the top 50 http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/cri_rap_percap-crime-rapes-per-capita

Most of what is presented is based on total numbers, not per capita

Why do you hate America?

Why do you hate freedom? smile.gif

I don't hate America, America and Americans have many many positives, introspection and acknowledgement of their own flaws is not one of them.

I know Romney isn't exactly an ideal candidate and doesn't have a lot of credibility on this issue, but what is so hard to understand about federalism?

Not sure, but didn't he say he thought Romneycare would be a good model for the nation as a whole? I mean, back before the primaries started.

For better and for worse, the Romney campaign has chosen not to adopt a defense based on federalism. They claim that Obamacare is bad in itself (not just "a matter best left to states") by underlining the few differences between Romneycare and Obamacare.

Like I said, he lacks credibility, but one could make the argument when he sent model he meant for all other states to adopt.... but it is Romney and I doubt he meant it that way.

I think he can actually salvage and even come out ahead on this, but he's so damn vague and wishy washy.

If it was Romney versus anyone else, he couldn't. But since such a large percentage of this country is absolutely stupid and believes Obama is a Muslim, then I doubt this will hurt Romney.

What's going to hurt him though, IMO, is when he said SB 1070 would be good to implement on the national level.

crackup[1].gif

1070 needs to be at the national level? Hmmm, this reminds me of a recent SCOTUS ruling...

why not if obama wanted to do so he could put out some really negative ads about mormons on the inherent racism, the massacre, the general secrecy of the hierarchy,or simply the weirdness factor. it may not get him votes but done correctly, it could stop some some of the young earthers or intelligent design freaks from voting.
