I'm posting this as a new thread so people will see it:

I checked with EG today to see if there were any further discounts on sale shoes. Bad news: there isn't.

Good news: They re-sent me the list of currently available shoes in my size (10) - and while many of the shoes are gone, there are now shoes on the list that were not originally on the list. A couple were reasonable shoes in dark oak (Berkeley, Elmsley, 202 last).

So anyway - if you're in the market but didn't see anything the first time around, it may be worth asking for an updated shoe list.

dumb question, I know, but if I wear a 11D RLPL Mackay, does that translate into a 10E UK?

No it would be a UK 10.5/11D. Just like it reads inside your Mackays.

I'm pretty sure it would be a 10.5/11E. They put "D" on the Mackays because they are for they american market, no? But in EG terms E is regular width.

No. That is not what Hillary told me. I wear a D in both RLPL and EG branded shoes. I purchased an E width from the 1/06 sale and they are much wider than my D widths.

Interesting, I got an F width on the 888 last and also found it wider than I expected. I thought it might just be slightly wider than average.

I wear a 10F on the 888. By comparison, I wear 10EEE in most Allen Edmonds lasts.

I'm not sure the UK E = US D translation works very well. In my limited experience, every UK "E" I tried on was wider than any US D I've worn. So although they say an "E" translates to a "normal" width, what's normal in the UK may not be so in the US. Perhaps british people "normally" have wide feet and high insteps.

Comparing the Edward Green 202E and John Lobb 8000E, I would loosely describe the Lobb as having a longer toe box, while the Green has greater volume and width through the toe and quarters.

They don't do a single all-size list, or not that I've seen. Best is to email them and ask what sale shoes they have in your size.
And then, being a good SFer, post the response here.
