Birthday Gift Conundrum

Thread Starter

My mother and father asked me what I wanted for my birthday...
I am currently deliberating between a pair of Clark Bushacre 2 brown leather boots or a pair of Ray Ban New Wayfarer shades...

Both would provide for good gifts. Both are items that I eventually want to have.
Any suggestions?

I'd get the Ray Ban at full retail as it is rarely seen on sale, and cough up some money to get a preowned Clarks or find it on sale some other time. Just my 2 cents

Wayfarers are a little ubiquitous. Are there any other makes or brands of shades that you've looked into and like in terms of looks and quality?

Skip the Wayfarers, they are played out. Go on Ebay/Amazon/etc. and find a pair of Persol 614, 714, 2994S, or 3018S for a little bit more ($50-$75 additional), or even some Tom Fords on Ebay/Amazon for ~$150. You'll be much better off

I really dig the Super Havana Basic Wayfarer or a pair of Shwood Canby east indian rosewood grey.

A valid point to consider.
I mean, Steve Mcqueen wore Persol so eventually I should own a pair too.

I'm confused. I thought Persols were wayfarerss. I would stay away from Ray Ban as they are played out in general.

One could argue they are "wayfarer-styled". But in my opinion, when one refers to Wayfarers, they are generally referring to the classic Ray Ban Wayfarer model. Could be wrong, but that is how I see it.
