Source for Office Slacks/Pants

I've a horrible sense of dress and absolutely hate shopping, so I'm hoping someone here might be so kind as to refer me to a good source for relatively inexpensive, hassle-free dress pants.  I like dark colors and thicker materials and in fact frequently wear simple Dickies; I work in a law office and while it's probably not the most appropriate attire, I think they look fine when worn with a tucked shirt and decent shoes.

Thanks in advance.

What's your definition of 'relatively inexpensive'?

I like Howard Yount, Panta, or Incotex/Mabitex on sale or from B&S. None of these are exactly cheap, but all pretty reasonable compared to some brands.

Good point.  Ideally under $100.00.  I've not heard the brands you mentioned, so thanks for the tip.

I tried running searches for dress pants, office pants, and so forth, and wasn't having the best luck finding any relevant messages.

Picked up some great wool pants at Saks Off Fifth. Howard Yount has a great selection but it's a bit more than your price.

Lands End tailored dress pants.

I wear Express Producer pants to work with a button down shirt. I know most Express stuff is overpriced junk, but their pants seems to be built well. I beat the hell out of them and they still look good. They come in tall sizes too. They always have a sale and you can order online and return to your local store if you want. I usually get them for less than $50/pair

Banana Republic used to make trousers that were worth their modest price. Don't know if that's still the case.

I think stores sell pants.

The trousers I wear every day to work (when a suit isn't called for) are BR.  I've had them almost two years now.  Trousers are the only thing I buy from BR.  Five in wool, four in cotton, four in chino.

I'd look at Incotex High Comfort chinos. They come in a regular weight and a heavier "winter weight" that sounds like it is right up your alley - I have 4 pair of the heavier ones and love them. You can find these regularly on fleabay and over in B&S whenever Daffy's has a dump of them. Prices will range from $45-80. They are slimmer than most pants but, in general, I find them more comfortable than jeans.

Only caveats would be that you need to check the sizing as the waists are not US "vanity sized" but accurate Euro-sized (e.g. if you are a 32 in US stuff, you will be a 34 in Incos). My other suggestion would be to check the team and thigh measurements as well. Incos are made in bunch of places - Italy, Portugal, Romania - and while the quality is consistently high, some cuts can be really tight.

They also make a lovely fine-wale cord that can provide a nice change of pace.

OP is asking for slacks, which would mean wool fabrics.....what you describe are cotton pants.

Also, OP is still new to the game and probably wouldn't fare well searching and buying something unknown to him.

You are right, instead of going to a store, he should go to a store.

Your suggestion of going to a store and buying pants, frankly, is mad.

Only the insane do that.
