The Dands never really approved of suits as they tended to attenuate their stature. Nevertheless the struggle to integrate more Dands into the creative fields continues through public - private partnership  initiatives such as positive discrimination and community based groin pulling.

Consider wearing a chambray shirt with a knit tie and a fishtail parka.

Even account people don't wear suits anymore. Which means it is the perfect time for creatives to start.

I am in a creative field (top-tier advertising agency) but I am not so young as to attempt anything hip or too fashion-forward. Additionally, I'll be applying for a senior level position.

The statement has to be creative, professional and senior-level.

I was thinking that a suit might be too much, even without a tie. Jeans even with a dress shirt is too casual. A nice pair of gray dress slacks with a crisp white dress shirt and perhaps a nice vest?

Suggestions or feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I assume you're a creative and not an account person, but either way, why the hell would you put a picture of yourself on your website? No one gives a shit what you look like. They care about the work.

Senior position in a top-tier agency? How is it you don't now this?

Anyway, bad idea all around. This will hurt you more than help you.

You would need to see the creative direction of my website to be able to make a statement on whether putting a photo will be appropriate or not. I can confidently say that I'm very skilled at what I do.

I don't as i look at a lot of creative's sites and often hire based on what I see. A picture - especially one done expressly for the site - would make me think twice if not outright pass. A shot of you receiving a Gold Lion or Clio under your "press" section may be all right, but a portrait anywhere else and you'll look like a real estate agent. From a mid-tier agency.

You still haven't definitively said if are in accounts or creative. Which is it?

I have no idea what this means.

An odd comment considering that almost every advertising and design firm will include pictures of the principals (and often the employees too) on their websites. And it's good strategic sense: it puts a face and a human element to an entity and it let's the potential client see who they will be working. A picture is worth a thousand words. Perhaps you've just been looking at too many bottom-end and mid-tier agencies.

"A suit" is the industry term for account execs.
