The color I disliked for another reason: Seems like an impractical choice for a guy getting wardrobe basics. Color too light for dressy events like interviews, and it lacks the appealing sleekness of a darker color for going out at night. But the "old mannish" comment is more about the shape, welt and style, and about how far removed the Strand is from what younger women are used to seeing. I've never had a college girl complement the sexy broguing on my AEs.
As I mentioned, I dig old-man shoes, so this is no swipe at the Strand. It's a handsome shoe ... just not the right shoe for every purpose.
