Bad decision? Opinions please.

Well I've asked a few friends what they think of the suit I purchased and they weren't thrilled when I showed them this picture. The suit really does look nice in person but has funny pocket placement. Crappy cell phone pictures below.

Anyways here are the details:

J. Crew Billy Reid japanese chambray suit with Allen-Edmonds Strand in Walnut.

Opinions please (will be worn with white button down, not t-shirt)

Will be worn for casual occasions such as Vegas trips etc.

Return the suit. Buy a proper tropical wool suit. Chambray cotton will wrinkle easily. It will also be warmer than tropical wool.

Also, the hard three button stance looks bad. Are you sure you have the same suit as the ones pictured?

Looks too big on you, three button not flattering you either. Size down, and on 3 button dont button the top one. Dont know the fabric on that one, but a good quality wool would look way better.

Next size down would most likely be too small, it does look a bit bigger in the picture. Thanks for help with buttons, I'll try only the middle then.

Looks a little silly. That pocket should trot be there. To make it worst, you can see they wore it as a 3 roll 2 and you have it buttoned up to 3. But I think you are better off returning it. Coold ideal thought. It just didn't quite work out.

Alright thanks for the opinions, so there's no way to get by with this suit even for casual occasions?

Let me also add that I got the jacket and pants 50% off the sale price so $250 total and not the full $750 it cost originally. For $250 should I still return it?

You'd be better off spending that $250 in the B&S. Return the suit, there's a reason it was on sale.

Thanks, did I at least do ok on the shoes?

Walnut Strands are a great shoe, very stylish and versatile.

The suit just does not fit right. The shoulders look OK, but the proportions are off. The material is also not good as mentioned. You can do better. Don't focus on the $500 you are saving, focus on the $250 you could be putting toward something good. $750 suits for $250 is not a great deal. $2k suits for $250-$500 are not all that unusual.

the pockets are so strange I dont even know what to say about the location...

seems like a tailor figured he had to put pockets and threw them in the middle of the jacket...

walnut strands are good shoes, but i think a pair of walnut players would be a bit more useful for you. they're a very similar shoe, but the players are bluchers, so they would be easier to wear in casual situations than the strands. if you can't return the strands don't worry about it, they're great shoes.

The jacket does look big, needs a little tapering on the waist.

I'm surprised that so many people think the suit is too big on you. I'm not a fan of the pocket either, but I don't see how you could size down from this picture. It could use a little waist tapering, I guess, but the shoulders look like they fit pretty well. For $250-500, you could probably find something without that weird pocket. The Strands are a good choice.

That jacket is not in any way too big on you, the sleeves are the right length. I can only assume that those saying it looks too big think that all men should wear jackets one size too small. The 3 button cut though, no, that doesn't work.
