I am glad you approve. Most magazines that have a lot of sartorial content won't touch an article about buying clothes on E-Bay.

I just picked up a copy: I found the armhole article informative. The six great suits for under $600 was nothing more then a photo shoot and really disappointing. The buying suits on E-bay was ok, it would be informative for people who have never used e-bay before, but didn't really offer me anything I didn't already know. Still reading through the rest of it.

The new issue was on the newstand before it was in the subscriber's mailbox? That's unusual.

This subscriber hasn't received it, although I look forward to it.

Just got the new issue. Perused it a bit and read a couple of articles. Good lineup of talent, what with Manton and Glenn O'Brien in there, among others. The magazine looks like it is coming along well. Seemed less retro-costumey than the first one, possibly because of the theme (suits as opposed to hats). A lot of the advertising still seems to be geared toward the costumers, and I can only hope that that won't pull the editorial content too far in that direction.

I got my issue in the mail yesterday, along with my GQ and Men's Vogue - an interesting trifecta. I have to say, I have read through most of the Classic Style already and I haven't even opened the other two yet. I think this issue sees the magazine finding its footing - I really liked the Apparel Arts article. I hope the quality content continues.

Sadly waiting on all three of those...

I see GQ and Men's Vogue on the newstand before I get them every month. Pisses me off, but I figure that's just life for such cheap subscription rates.

Costumes? Come on, guys. Isn't that just a tad harsh and judgmental? And knowing that some of the writers and editorial folks frequent this board makes it all the more "in your face," in my judgment.

Dressing up to look like someone from the 1940s doesn't seem any stranger to me than, say, spending three hours every day reading and sending messages about clothing. That is to say, we're all a bit touched, a bit obsessed, when you think about it.

I think the magazine is terrific.

Saw it. Read it. Laughed hard at the photos at the end (was this a cast reunion for a suburban dinner theatre production of Guys and Dolls?)

Set it down. The title is a decent idea for a magazine but this one really doesn't deliver. It's amateurish.

I thought that Mantons articles were pretty good. Certainly well written as always.

Deckards article was awful. Armholes might be an interesting topic, but he added nothing to the general knowledge base. He is also excruciating to read.

The rest of the magazine is neither good nor bad. In some ways it reminds me of a b-movie magazine or a horror movie magazine. They're going to have a devil of a time keeping any advertising.

The idea that the Fredora Lounge people are not costumers is unbelievable. There is nothing wrong with costume and enthusiasm.

Fascinating.

It was my first post but won't be my last. I simply saw the magazine last week, saw a thread was started about it, and gave my impressions of the magazine.

N.K.
