Where should I go?

All,

I have a first world problem. I am on paid leave from work and don't have to be back at work until March 5. I want to go somewhere, but I will be travelling solo since my wife is a doctor in residency and can't get time off short notice. Anyway, I would love to hear some suggestions. I have been to Barcelona, Helsinki, Paris, and Thailand in the past year, so not really looking to go back to those places as of yet.

I was considering:
Vietnam
Korea
Taking the Shinkansen all thru Japan
Taking trains thru most of Eastern Europe (have only been to Czech Republic and Slovakia)
BBQ roadtrip thru the South taking me down to Florida area, then driving Miami to Maine.

Thanks in advance for suggestions.

I think Vietnam is one of the best tourist place., it has many destinations which are really very attractive.

I like the road trip idea, but driving through the South in the winter I imagine being a bit of a drag. And driving from Miami to Maine? Sheer punishment.

If you're in Chicago, the country starts getting interesting as you head west from there, IMO. Why not do a road trip in that direction? See the Grand Canyon and Bryce in the winter. Or check out southern Texas.

Or if you're into European trains, how about the ones that go through the Alps?

Good suggestion, but my wife and I already did all of Route 66 and Texas this year. And did Grand Canyon last year. Then did California Coast and back across from SF to SLC to Denver to Omaha to Chicago. Really an awesome trip and would def recommend Route 66 and Texas to anyone (American or otherwise).

Burma. Go before it's developed and just like the rest of SE Asia.

Actually been thinking a lot about Burma. My good friend spent 2 weeks there and said it was amazing.
