What time do you wake up for work? - Page 2

When I'm visiting a client site, I wake up at 7:30 to get breakfast and get into the building by 8:00 AM.

When I'm back in Boston on Fridays, I'm allowed to come in later (around 10ish) and get to leave at 2:00~ish if I want, so I end up waking up at 9:00 AM.

6:30. would be better suited if it was 8 but most coworkers are already in by that time. done want to give them the impression that I care less about my job

Do you all work at home offices? Or are you in sales? getting up at 8? I count it a luxury if I get to sleep that late on the weekend.

Clock goes off at 4:30 - 5 depending on what I have on my plate that day.

I have an 8 minute walk to the office. I think a lot of city-dwellers on the forum are in similar situations.

4 - 4:30 most mornings, depending on what my training schedule calls for. For rest days, 5:30 or so.

The alarm clock blasts at 6:45, and I'm up and moving immediately. I have to be out of the shower to watch the kiddo by about 7:00 so the missus can start her commute.

I'm wondering this, too. Other than academics, most of my friends have to be in the office by 8:00.

This thread is explaining a lot of things to me.

I'm up at 4am so that I can squeeze an hour in the gym before work. The culture at my place means there's a certain cache for the people who are in first and out last.

8:15 alarm
8:20 wake up after 1 snooze
8:30 out of apartment
8:45 sitting at my desk

i don't think it's humanely possible to be more efficient. i am not a morning person...

How the hell did all of you get 9:00am jobs? I wake up at 6:50am. I walk two blocks to work, so I'm there by 7:45.

I'm wondering this, too. Other than academics, most of my friends have to be in the office by 8:00.

Stuff doesn't start happening here until later...(although I have a friend at a competitor and they have to be in at 8:30...although most of them just come in late every day). My assumption would be that we have a bunch of clients who start at more like 8-8:30. Then they spend half an hour warming up before requests come in. This means that our senior staff don't need to be in until 9 when clients might want something. Since they aren't in until 9, people down on my level have to wait another half hour before they start handing out work.

But really...the nature of our work is such that any "extra" work outside of the 9-5 work week is going to happen after 5 or on weekends. I can count on one hand the number of times I have *had* to work before 9...the most recent two were once when I had to go to a client's office at 7:30 to go through some stuff with them before their own people arrived for the morning meeting and another time where I got out of the shower to an emergency request to run some analysis and just stayed home until it was finished and went into the office at 10.

I'm not big on the mornings...so this works pretty well for me, but sometimes I am envious of friends with early start times who don't have to work outside of work hours...one's a trader who works east coast hours and has junior people to clean up after him so he can be out the door at 3:30 and another works in IT for a coffee chain so he starts an hour before the earliest stores open and stays until the early afternoon with little to no obligation outside of those hours.

5:30am here. Some nights I do not get home until 9pm.

6:10-6:15
7:00-7:15 out of the apartment
7:30-7:45 arrive at work

Finish work between 5:00pm and 8:00pm depending on call schedule

6AM... Not because I have to, but because I prefer to.
Usually get to work somewhere between 8-9.. Unless I'm traveling or have one of my favorite 6/7AM calls.
