So I am planning on getting some AE's....but the nearest store is roughly an hour from me and I don't really have the time to make the trip....can anyone attest to how true to size they are?  I am used to wearing bostonians...time to upgrade.

Please, if you are willing to pay $300 for AE shoes, invest the time to try the product before you buy. Sizing is 50% - 50%, I'm a 10.5 EEE and i have had to size down on 3 occasions. I also hear stories about certain models needing to size up. It's a good investment to spend the hour drive, good luck. nod[1].gif

Different models are on different lasts. Unless you have experience with the different lasts (shapes) then you would be far better off to make that long voyage as an investment.

Order a bunch of sizes on Zappos and send back the ones that don't fit.

Did you know that AE has its own thread on the first page of this very forum?

Hi all

I am wanting to order some Park Avenues and Strands for a few job interviews coming up. Problem is I do not have the luxury of visiting a store to try, or ordering 50 different sizes and sending the 49 back that don't fit. I am in NZ and relocating to Australia this week where these things are not easy to find.

For reference I wear a US8.5 in Red Wings 875, 9146 and 9011 and Chucks. Most of my other shoes are US9.

Would a US9 in PA and Strands be a good bet?

TIA

I wear AE Park Avenues in size 8.5. I have Red Wing Beckman boots in size 8 and Alden boots in size 8. I hope my response is not too late. Good luck with the interview!

I have discovered that sizing is almost impossible to predict.  Download the AE fit guide first and take several measurements at different times.  Err on the larger size if your foot is close to the sizing line.  Shoes made on the #5 last (most of them) are true to size if you have a medium to high arch.

If you have a flat foot like me, then pronation will change the fit in the toe box.  Don't expect the shoe to stretch. It should fit well from the first time you put them on.

I'm an 11C based on the fit guide.  If I had a normal instep, the 11C would fit just fine.  Instead, I've found the 11.5C to be the best compromise between heel and toe fit.

There's no secret formula.  But you should know your correct brannock size and understand the shape of your foot/arch.
