Hope the mods will leave this here for a few hours - the other forum is now an archive only.

I'm doing my first selling on eBay. A buyer contacted me with an offer for an item just after the auction for the item had expired. I want to put the item up so that he can click on it as a Buy It Now. I know this might sound silly, but is there any way I can set it up so that I can send only this buyer a link to buy it (via the eBay Messaging system)? I know it's not likely that someone else will grab it (in case for example this buyer isn't able to buy it when he thinks he will but has to wait xx hours), but it's possible.

I assume there's no way I can do this, and I just have to put it up as a Buy It Now and tell the guy to hurry up and buy it?

Or you could just have him Paypal you the $$ and you send the goods. Of course EBay won't like that and the buyer might not either. Just arrange wt the buyer when you will post it.

No way to do it like you want, but also your not going to get a lot of responses in this forum as this is the B&S section where people buy and sell stuff. Youll get a better response in the regular forum here http://www.styleforum.net/f/5/mens-clothing

Thanks Brian, I kind of figured that where the sellers are, there would be some guys with eBay experience. It seems you're right though. No way to do it. I don't particularly want to ask the guy to go off eBay for this one. I'll at least establish a few sales before trying that.

what you can do is setup a buy it now with best offer. and then set the but it now price really high just message the user who wanted to buy your item and tell him to offer whatever the price is that you had been willing to take. that way, no one will buy your item at a ridiculously inflated price.

It would be better to set up an auction if you have them free. You could list the buyer's ID in the title, then when he bids on the item you can click "End Auction" and sell to the highest bidder.

That way, you can cancel anyone else's bid and pay lower final value fees (auction vs. fixed) depending on your asking price.

Edit: Should have been clearer about the fees:

Fixed price is 10% on initial $50, 8% on $50 - $1k. Insertion fees vary - 0.20 without store, .50 with store.

Auction is 9% flat, maximum charge of $100. 50 fee auctions at any price per month on non-store accounts.

hmm did ebay's fees change? last time i looked, auction fees were actually higher than BIN fees
