Meanwhile, back in the real world, I have never seen anyone combine stripes and dots. Ever. With good reason.

Not always, mate.

Antonio Panico, Master Tailor, wore a striped shirt (sky blue stripes on white ground) with a navy tie that had white spots / dots throughout the doco, O'Mast. He was also wearing a double-breasted navy pinstripe (flannel, I think).

And believe you, me: he looked sharp as the edge on a Spyderco blade.

While I may not dress like LK, the stripes and spots in that pic were close enough in scale as to be considered an acceptable combination.

Probably more to the point the StyleForvm aesthetic are guys like Lucca Rubinacci of Lapo Elkann. They were crazy colors and funny shoes and beaded jewelry, and they do get nitpicked by guys on the forum. However, they dress like the louche Italian playboys that they actually are. Their style may not be to some of our taste, but it's part and parcel of their pedigree and lifestyle. When people try to do the half-Lapo with a foundation of the Cuccinelli suit they bought for 75% off on the B&S forum and they're family men living in the burbs, they're really missing on all cylinders. You have to start with understanding who you are, then do your best to dress the part.

I needed to quote this again.

Good stuff. Once again I am reminded that it's difficult not being that guy while still trying to be that guy.
