My Wedding in May...

Thread Starter

My wedding is coming up in May. It will be a night wedding and indoors. I purchased my tux yesterday at a local store.http://www.josbank.com/menswear/shop/Product_11001_10050_280213

I still haven't purchased any accessories for it.

Ideas So Far:

Shirt: Still haven't figured out what collar to go with?

Bow tie: White (silk Satin)...Self tie, modern "butterfly" (my grooms men will be wearing black)..Any recommendations on what brand or where I should purchase?

Shoes: Will my Park Avenues do the job?

Pocket square: White (silk)

Is a Cummerbund required?

I'm pretty clueless as to what accessories (shirt studs, cuff links, suspenders (if any) etc..) to go with.

Shirt: only go with a wing collar if you are tying the bow tie yourself, But i personally prefer a turn down spread collar with the buttons hidden

Shoes: Polished calf skin is good enough, no sense buying patent leather for something you will only use once

Cummerbund: Traditionally yes but i dont ever use one. I only find them useful when my shirt buttons are not covered as it hides the last few with no studs.

Pocket Square: go with an off white maybe cream one

That was from the last time i wore a tux, my pocket square was an off white cream and my shirt was the one with the buttons covered (dunno what its called; Hidden something?)

If you are wearing a tux, I would get some patent leather shoes

Would a pre tied bow tie be my best bet?

Its up to you really. I dont like using them because they look a bit too perfect i dunno if that makes any sense but i prefer a self tie bowtie. Once you get the hang of doing it it takes less than a minute to get it right. As for cufflinks just go with something plain like a solid silver or mother of pearl, unless you want to match them to the studs on your shirt. For the suspenders if your pants dont have belt loops and there are buttons for suspenders then its up to you if you wanna wear them or not. I tend not to wear them because my pants usually stay or have minimal movement throughout the day so i see no need to.

I was looking at this set http://www.amazon.com/Silver-Onyx-Single-Tuxedo-Cufflinks/dp/B004KTW2X0/ref=wl_it_dp_o_npd?ie=UTF8&coliid=I143NJYI6A909B&colid=286XOBYHJ01CP

I rather use a nice set of silver cufflinks, not the silver onyx ones from the set.

No, you're an adult. Learn to tie it. You'll have your wedding pictures for the rest of your life, you'll want to see a tie you tied yourself.
