Advice Needed On Outfit

Hey guys! First off just wanted to say this is an amazing forum. I have learned a lot and found a lot of useful information on here (long time lurker).

Here is a little about me:

- Male
- 25 years old
- I am a noob when it comes to style and stick mainly to traditional colors
- I am not balling out of control (hence some of the limitations)

I am currently trying to piece together something out of my ordinary range of colors for some upcoming events, and need some advice.

Here is the dark navy suit I am planning on wearing. It has a light herringbone pattern with some blue lines:

I have a decent pair of plain black shoes, but I am considering going with a shade of brown instead:

Here are my 2 choices:

AE Strand in Walnut

To Boot Windsor either in Cognac or Bordeaux. Bordeaux seems to very unique.

Also with either said combination what color dress shirt and tie would best compliment it.

I may be asking a lot. I am not clueless, but would like some input on what may work best.

All input is appreciated.

Thank you!

I assume the event you are talking about is a board meeting?

I would not suggest you pick up pin stripes as your go to suit. I would start with a plain suit as opposed to one with patterns. Unless you are getting it for business wear then by all means.

If you do go with the above suit, then I would suggest you go with a plain shoe (cap toe or otherwise) as opposed to the ones you shown. I prefer browns for Navy Suits, so you are good there.

I think you might want to mention what sort of events you might be attending for us to give you a better suggestion.

Thank you!

As far as the events go. I have been invited to a couple of weddings and some work related meetings as well.

I already possess the suit in question. I do not want to make a heavy investment into a suit until I lose the desired amount of weight.

For the wedding I was thinking something simple as a white shirt, but I don't know what kind of tie to match with it. As far as the business meetings go. I can always wear a light blue with a red tie.

What sort of shoes did you have in mind when you say plain? I want it to be of reasonable quality. My budget for a nice pair of brown shoes would be $500 at this time.

What does everyone think of the To Boot Windsor in Bordeaux?

The To Boot are not unwearable, but most around here would only buy them if on deep deep discount from Nordstrom Rack. I would also advise against the Walnut Strands, despite them being much loved around here. I have those myself, but often have trouble wearing them, since they are a fairly ostentatious shoe. I'd save your money and get a staple brown shoe such as: http://www.barneys.com/Hallam/500132581,default,pd.html?cgid=SHOES04 .

As for ties, look at http://www.kentwang.com/ties/glen-plaid.html, http://www.drakes-london.com/sale/finest-silk-end-on-end-woven-mini-check-7cm-tie, and find some reasonable facsimile from the http://www.thetiebar.com/ .

Thanks. I will check out those sites.

In terms of the tie/dress shirt. Is there any specific color that I should avoid that would clash with navy/brown shoe combo?

Also, I am generally not a fan of dark brown shoes without any texture to it, if you know what I mean.

For example, the To Boot in Bordeaux color looks like it has "character" to the leather.

What do you think about the following:

Also, would a tan color dress shoe be too much? A color similar to this:

I really like the brown color of the Forziery. I also really like the AE Strand in walnut calf.

Any final thoughts on which would look better paired with a matching belt?

I've read some reviews online that the Forzieri site has poor service and is delayed quite a bit.
