I try to always go for the cheaper ones with great style. ANything less than $50 would be great.

no. They are $15, you can't expect them to be the same quality as a polo. That said the silk is quite nice. The lining is cheezy and there are occasionally loose threads in the stitching that can be cut off without issue.

I'm happy enough with the quality, I won't get pissed if I ruin one, and nobody is looking at the lining anyway.

They are fairly thick so they tie nicely in my opinion.

I like to buy ties on sale and will wait some out to do that, but I firmly believe that the time to buy something you love it when you see it, so, yes, I will pay $125+

REALLY varies. B&S has me spoiled. Ill pay over $100 if its a tie that i really want and cant find something similar for cheaper. but with people like Spoo who purges gorgeous ties more than i change underwear for less than i pay for said underwear...why pay more?!

Rarely spend more than $30-45 on a tie. Given, I buy all my ties at places like Daffy's, Century 21 and the like, but they are the same high quality stuff you'd be spending $100-$200 on at a regular retail store (for example, Altea, Ferre, Moschino). And for those that like Drake's ties, I've seen those pretty regularly at Neiman Marcus Last Call stores for under $50 (leftovers from Bergdorf's). Often with this kind of stuff, as many have mentioned with thrift stores, it's more where you buy than what you buy that makes the price differential -- quality can be had for cheap, you just need to know where to look and have patience.

Ties are the biggest scam in the menswear industry. I have a $20 Nature Conservancy tie that's visually almost identical to my Ferragamo ties from > 5 inches away. I inherited almost all of my ties, but if I hadn't I'm sure I'd buy my collection from TJ Max or some shit.

Most I think I've spent is $50 on an RLPL tie I eventually never wore and gave away. I see some really nice tie for sale but for some reason can't bring myself to go beyond $40-$50. And other than price I buy ties on this criteria:

1. Heft/weight - I like thicker ties
2. Pattern/texture
3. Construction

Most I have spent on a tie building my new collection has been $22. Been scoring deals at Macy's and other department stores. I buy ties based on if I like the look and if they are affordable. I realize there are some ties I want that are expensive, about $100, but I don't need them. I find that some of my favorite ties are the ones I picked up at Kohls on the 90% off rack for $3. Hopefully I don't get shot for saying that.

Since the day I lost a beautiful Zegna tie on a paper shredder, I won't go above €60...

 

The destroyed tie was €110.

On average, I spend $1.50 at the "Episcopal Thrift Shoppe" in my town. I have bought 7 Brooks Brothers, 4 Turner & Asser, several other makes, Land's End, Hermes, etc....I think I have bought 40 ties in total from them...
