Proper length of a leather jacket

467467I posted in men's clothing too, but thought I'd give it a shot here...

I'm a bit on the short side, and this jacket falls about 1.5-2.5" past my belt when wearing normal waisted denim. Is this suitable or is it too long?

Here is a picture of the jacket in question

So there is no rule of thumb in terms of length...ie not above the belt and not to exceed x in. below the belt?

generally imo it should reach no further than the bottom of your belt

This isn't really MC...
Depends on the look one's trying to achieve, style of jacket, ect

If you like rules thumb whatever, if you would have the jacket with just bare skin underneath it would not show none or very little of your belly when worn. I usually like the jacket to be just under the belt-line, rather than closer to the top.

I think sleeve length is more important to the overall look. Seeing a leather jacket being worn showing inches of skin above your wrist is rather comical.

EDIT: Your jacket looks nice. I personally wouldn't worry about the 1 or 2 inches or whatever below belt, especially if you have jeans that actually fit at the waist instead of sagging. If is was 4 or something may be more concerned with a jacket of that style.

+1 to post a fit if you expect more detailed/specific answers.

looks fine for that style

your sleeves are too long. if the jacket isn't too tight in the chest i would exchange for the next size down.

Thanks for the input guys, unfortunately being short this size is as small as they come. Worth it to get the sleeves tailored?
