As for shoes, Bruno Magli frequents many an outlet store, often purchasable for a rock bottom $120 - $160. That is more a proper price for these shoes. As for Allen Edmonds, your BF has to try them on even if you know his shoe size.
This man very wise. nod[1].gif

I have a pair of Bruno Maglis and though not the best quality shoes I've owned they are very comfortable, as noted above. For similarly priced shoes (again, only should be purchased on deep discount) my favorites are Ferragamos. I find them equally comfortable but considerably more stylish (skip anything with a rubber sole or the metal horse bit across the front) without being hideously trendy.

Barney's also sometimes offers Goodyear Welted house brand shoes, but they don't say so online, you'd actually have to go into the store and look inside the shoes. If you can find the right deal (or don't mind upping your budget; the shoes are probably worth it) then I'd second the C&J recommendations.

+1
Also, if you are prepared to breech the $500 mark you'd want to look into Alden or Crockett & Jones.

My Bruno  Magli's almost 5 years old. Great stuff.

I've been rockin a pair of BM wingtips for about 6 years now. Having purchased them at 60% off, I have no complaints. For the OP, I think the suggestion of taking the boyfriend shoe shopping is excellent advice.

I found my self in a similar situation, looking for better shoes a step above Kenneth Cole and Aldo. While I wanted to like Allen Edmonds based on the feedback here, I ended up getting Santoni's as I liked their styling and comfort better http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/santoni-orrin-cap-toe-oxford/3270522

I also like the look of the Bruno Magli.Santoni-Orrin-Cap-Toe-Oxford-1.jpg

Alright, I haven't been on for a while but I ended up getting him these and he really like them.

Maybe I'm just really good at picking out shoes, or I just know my boyfriend well enough :)

lol8[1].gif Out of all the various recommendations, you've chosen a classic style, made by one of the darlings of the forum. The Allen-Edmonds Park Avenue is a captoe balmoral that is appropriate for wearing with suits or business casual and many on the forum love Allen-Edmonds shoes because they are probably the least expensive Goodyear welted shoes and thus represent exceptionally good value. The AE Park Avenue may be the most widely-owned shoes on the forum. I find that AE lasts (shapes) are not to my taste and the Park Avenue, in particular, doesn't fit me well (my toes hit the top of the toe box), but you did exceptionally well!! It seems that you and your boyfriend have innate, classic good taste in shoes.

Welcome to the forum!
