As for shoes, Bruno Magli frequents many an outlet store, often purchasable for a rock bottom $120 - $160. That is more a proper price for these shoes. As for Allen Edmonds, your BF has to try them on even if you know his shoe size.

Out of all the various recommendations, you've chosen a classic style, made by one of the darlings of the forum. The Allen-Edmonds Park Avenue is a captoe balmoral that is appropriate for wearing with suits or business casual and many on the forum love Allen-Edmonds shoes because they are probably the least expensive Goodyear welted shoes and thus represent exceptionally good value. The AE Park Avenue may be the most widely-owned shoes on the forum. I find that AE lasts (shapes) are not to my taste and the Park Avenue, in particular, doesn't fit me well (my toes hit the top of the toe box), but you did exceptionally well!! It seems that you and your boyfriend have innate, classic good taste in shoes.
