DVN was really good.

I can dig it.

Back in October, Dries Van Noten started scouring the Victoria & Albert Museum for historical Chinese, Japanese and Korean costumes. He then photographed the actual garments — robes, coats, skirts — for large-scale prints that he cut into various pieces to create graphic blocks on the clothes. The side of a lavishly patterned oriental coat became the decorative motif for a skirt; parts of an Eastern skirt, the pattern on a blouse. Sometimes one big, bold graphic made the case, while at others, it was an interesting patchwork.

Holy shit Doma and DvN both nailed it, really inspiring stuff after such a dull season of menswear...

Indeed, menswear can go hide in shame.

A brief respite. Sipang's on autopilot so you'll forgive the lapses of judgement

Love the Dries lady clothes. Very excited to see the Ute Ploier stuff also. I'm not so crazy about the shaggy mohair (I'm sure it's beautiful, but it's not something I'd wear), but I'm anxious to see everything else.

Also, I got a laugh out of that McQueen interview KingJ posted. "And y'know, I'm a brilliant cutter and I can cut you mad stuff but, what's the point?" It's funny how so many designers basically think menswear is boring to design.

Thanks Sipang btw for all your posts, that's really cool smile.gif

I loved the balmain women show. I'm afraid that Roustaing is going to suck with Balmain mens (the two collections he did are really way more feminine that what Decarnin did). It looks like balmain men is the french disquared frown.gif and don't get me wrong, I love Hedi for how he introduced the new french silhouette but that's not the direction Roustaing took and that's not what we need. It's douchey.

But! His women shows are really nice.

Balmain has those weird squarish jackets thing going on though. Also, ill-proportioned tops w/ big-ass arms is the stupid trend of Fall 2012, it's everywhere.

I was about to be like 'wtf are you talking about Balmain looks incredible!' and then I noticed it was Ann D that you posted. nod[1].gif

I guess you aren't able to appreciate couture-inspired volume.

I keep going back to look at the Dries show. It's just so impeccably tasteful.
