Krane Design - extreme efforts into making their jackets

I just spoke with a rep from KraneDesign. I had no idea this much effort has been put into their line of clothing.

love my Ayling

Did you guys find the jackets fit true to size? I am planning on copping one soon but need some input on this. I am a 38" chest 17.5" shoulder width, 5"6 height and 144 LBS weight.

Size chart for the AYLING from size 36 and 38 are about 0.5 inches apart. 17" SW/21.5" P2P for the 36 and 17.5/22.0 for the 38. Wondering if sizing down would be ideal or not?

Did you transcribe that off the phone? Neat idea if it's true. It sounds kind of unhygienic though(?) -- and if these blankets are 70+ years old, how are they even fit to be put into brand-new clothing? Someone who owns one needs to post some good quality photos.

I had a killer Krane Jonas coat that I loved, but it had the chambray lining which I always liked more than the wool lining (I also owned a Mathias fishtail way back). Great service as well, Ken is amazing.

i'm 5'8", 160lbs with a 39" chest and the 36 fits me fine up top. be warned though that the ayling is definitely geared toward taller people... the sleeves on my 36 were way too long (had to have them shortened) and the coat ends almost at my knees. if you look at their fit pics you'll notice the coat ends much higher than that on the model (around his butt).

while the quality and craftsmanship is outstanding on the ayling i wouldn't recommend it for you. the silhouette looks off on me because the coat is tailored for taller people, and at 5'6" i think it would look even more awkward. i also own the emory however and the length on a 36 is MUCH better for my height.

Wow thank you so much for such a detailed response! Yea that would of saved me some money thats for sure, I wanted both! haha. Well EMORY it is, really I love both the coats and when I first saw a pic of the AYLING on Brigade I thought this is the coat I've been dreaming about. :'( Guess I'll have to look somewhere else for a nice peacoat.

Which color EMORY do you have?

black. i probably would have bought the olive if i didn't already have the ayling in that color though.

Sizing really varies year to year on the pieces, I find the emory in this season to be TTS, but I wish the hood was just larger, this season's hood is a tighter fit

Don't see the issue with the blanket linings. I've read several times over that Krane buys up deadstock military blankets. I'm sure they're well cleaned before being sewn into the garments. It's honestly not any different than someone making jeans out of deadstock Cone Mill denim or pants out of NOS woolen fabrics.

Would you happen to know if there were any modifications from last years EMORY to this years?

So let me get my head wrapped around this, with it being TTS, if I see the chart showing 17.5 " for shoulder width I should grab that size for best fit?

How did the '09 Ayling fit? I just bought one of B&S.

I have one of the original Emory bomber. Great jacket and that military blanket is super warm. Fit is tts on the Emory.

May I ask what size you went in the EMORY? I would assume a 36 as well? What year is your EMORY?

I'll jump in here too, as I bought an 09 Ayling last year. I wear a 36R suit and found the size 36 Ayling to fit me very well throughout.
