Need advice on my first formal shoe. Church's

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for my first formal shoes. I'm thinking about Church's shoes at Herringshoes ( http://www.herringshoes.co.uk/product-list-all.php?brandID=4&all=all )

I have little knowledge about shoes (e.g. type of leather and etc) but I'm looking for a black cap toe shoes that are relatively easy to maintain. On the website, there are several styles in black cap toe and I don't know which one I should go for.

It's going to be my work shoes which I will need to wear pretty much everyday. (Or is it not recommended to have only one pair of shoes for work?)

Could you guys recommend me some shoes for me?

Thanks a lot in advance!

so your looking for dress shoes not "formal" shoes? When you said formal I was thinking black tie tuxedo shoes.

It is recommended to have more than one pair of shoes as you wear them in a rotation so they don't wear out too quickly.

You need 3 shoes, maybe 2 minimum.

Believe me you will quickly destroy your shoes, and the money you spent on them, if you wear one shoe every day.

I also second two shoe minimum... but you have to start somewhere. The one Quadcammer posted is a good start. I recommend one black, one brown.

Wolfador, Yes, dress shoes. Sorry for the confusion.

Currently I own a Alden cordovan (color 8) longwing. So I'm looking for black and something a bit more dressier than brown longwing.

In this case, do I need two black shoes, if say minimum is three pairs of shoes?

In this case, what would be the two other shoes?
