3/4 Coat - Bellissimo - Should I Buy? University Student

I've been looking for a proper coat for a long time now.  I dangled around the idea of purchasing a peacoat, however, I do not plan to have the coat buttoned up all the time and don't necessarily like the look of them on me.

 

I found a 3/4 Coat, Wool / Cashmere blend (albeit only 5% cashmere) at a good price.

This is the coat.  I am a University student so want something dressy but casual that I can wear overtop of sweaters or lighter style clothing. I will wear it over my suit on rare occasions if it is cold out and I am going to a lodge meeting etc.

 

The price is about 150 after tax. 

 

I would like some commentary / alternative suggestions if possible please.  This will be my first proper coat purchase.  I've been getting by on sweaters the last three years.

They also had a Charcoal Gray version of a similar coat but it had a vest inside of it that unzipped from the coat.  I didn't like that so much.

With that budget your options are quite limited.

Oh, thats not my budget. Just what I found.  I live in a fairly small area so my options of store choice are limited.

 

Tip Top Tailors, The Bay , Sears, Le Chateau, Mexx... those kind of stores.

 

I am willing to spend a few hundred dollars for a good coat

Try it on. If it fits to your liking, get it. From the picture, it looks like it wears like a box.

Also, if I were in university, I definitely wouldn't wear a coat like that. I'd feel like a retard. But, I don't know you, so perhaps you like that look.

Again, at $150-200, your options are very limited.

I recommend Zara. They sell overcoats for around 250 and under, depending if it's on sale. It'll fit slim and nice. I don't know if your slim so that may not work for you.

If you can make it to NYC, go to UNIQLO. They have three stores there, the only stores in all of the americas.

Looks good to me, although charcoal would be more versatile for casual wear. The difference between $150 coat and $350 one is only a brand name tag.
Make sure there are no defects when you buy it, take care of it and it will get you through college.
