J.Crew Bayswater VS. Ralph Lauren Academy PEACOATS

I'm looking to buy a new peacoat an I can't decide which to get... Could I get some input please?

What I'm debating:

- True to size (which one fits best, im usually medium)

- Quality (i dont want stiff wool... i want soft/flexibile)

- Comfort (fits just right, not too baggy or chunky)

- SIZING! (GOOD FIT!)

Let me know what you guys think! Thanks.

I like my RL peacoat in Navy. It fits true to size and hugs the body nicely.

No experience with the JCrew one.

thanks for input guys. im assuming the 2 RL links i posted are the same peacoats right? They made of same exact material... but different pricing.

The j crew one is 100% wool while the newer RL academy pea coats are a wool blend. That said I love my 100% wool RL academy peacoat from 3 years ago.

so... which one would you recommend lol? from what i've read, the jcrew one seems to have sizing issues... but im not sure if i like the pocket flaps on the RL one.

I actually just bought the XS Jcrew Bayswater one since its the last day of the 30% off... im hoping it will fit since it seems to fit pretty large. I'm still looking for people who have had experience with the Ralph Lauren peacoat. I am willing to return the Jcrew one if I hear better things about the Ralph Lauren one.

Ralph Lauren Peacoat:

1- How is the sizing?

2- Material (soft, hard, chunky?)

Also... what do you guys think about the pockets on these coats? The ralph lauren ones have the side pockets w/ flaps, whereas the Jcrew one only has slasher pockets.

Nevermind. Didn't see that you had already bought the J.Crew one.

If the RL one is returnable, it can't hurt to have it shipped to you, then compare the two side by side.

As for the pockets, I think the J.Crew one looks a bit "cleaner", but you could tuck (or remove) the flaps on the RL one, thereby minimizing that difference.

i dont think i will want to tuck or remove the pockets from the RL one... the reason i ask for people with experience on the RL coat is because of the sizing. Because of college, I HAVE to order this stuff online so i want to get it right the first time. So yea as of now im just deciding what size to order the RL one and then once they both get here i will compare and return whichever one i like least. The only thing im worried about in general... is the texture. i dont want a stiff / chunky wool coat that makes me feel like im being boxed up

I have the navy bayswater for 2 years now, it's super thick and warm compared to alot of crappy peacoats out there.

I'm also a size S and bought a size S, it foots good, not slim, but fits good enough.
