What are your motivations for branching out of C&J into Vass?

Curiosity as to what all the fuss is about. Pure and simple - no objections at all to what I've been receiving from C&J - just plain old curiosity.

I have two pairs of Carminas arriving any day for the same reason - enquiring minds want to know! :D

damn G, you are rolling with shoos lately, that nice C&J collection..Don;t forget the shoe Appreciation pics when available.. :)

Appreciation's a comin' next week or so - I've been working on a special polish on a pair of the new C&J and I must say they are looking stellar.

I want to get the Carmina's in hand before I do a group shot of this year's purchases.

I am very much near the end of shoe purchases for a while - my wallet needs a little breaky poo!

Are you getting Carminas from the Armoury? How are you dealing with finding the right size but having a short return window for purchases?

Sharing an order direct from Carmina with a fellow SF member - taking an educated guess as to sizing and planning on selling them if they don't fit.

You could always contact proxy such as Kolecho or Tombrone.  But then you better well research your size in different Vass lasts.

Found out last night that my size in Vass's New Peter last was definitely not 40.5. :(

Bought this pair from Kolecho, and since he and I were close in size, I thought there was a good chance that these would fit me, but no go.

Since I can't return these, and I don't have any online selling experience (and don't really want the hassle), I'd like to offer these to another SF member. If you are interested, please PM me. They are still brand new.

By "offer," I mean I could be talked into giving the pair away for the cost of postage. I've learned a lot from SF members, and this is my weird way of paying back. The only thing I ask is that you don't flip them if they don't fit. Just pass them to another SF member.

I wear US 8D in AE 5 last (e.g., Park Avenue and Strand) and UK 7E in EG 202 last (a snug fit). This pair was a tad too long for me, and adding insoles was not enough.

If I should take my offer to B&S, then somebody please let me know.

unfortunately the 3636 is totally underrated, at least on sf. it would be great to see another example in the wild.
go for it.

doesn't mean i prefer vass to carmina. i'm just a big admirer(wide forefoot) of lasts in this style.

Placed the order...now the waiting begins!

I second this, almost pulled the plug on a black toe Carmina...but somehow resisted and went with two pairs of Vass instead..

What you won't see on their website are 3636s in the Norweger style, or in Oxfords. But if you look at the (narrower) Peter lasts for both you'll get a good idea of the aesthetic. For many situations, I think they are quite successful, even if they are 1/4-1/2 inch shorter than my best bespoke shoes.

The 3636 is very wide, though. Much wider than anything Carmina puts out.
