Yeah I noticed the SS Rag & Bone and BoO showing up. Thought it was pretty interesting as this is US stock that was unsold probably.

Mr. Porter Fall/Winter Trend Report from Milan & Paris - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRA5BQYji6o

Don't know how useful it will be to people on here, but I figured I'd post it anyway.

For all the porter knob-slobbing, it is worth pointing out that porter's retail prices are higher than you see anywhere really. E.g. they want $305 for the same SNS sweater that unionmade sells for $210 retail. And if you compare to corner or matches, porter retail prices are consistently higher by a not trivial amount. Yes they have great customer service, but you do pay for it

I think most people here know that Porter jacks up prices, but when it's at 60-80% does it really matter.

Porter's pricing is tricky. I've bought prorsum jacket at porter, which porter's price is 70 dollar cheaper than burberry boutique.
What make it more interesting is, when the jacket arrived, I could not find the price sticker on burberry tag, burberry usually have their MSRP on the bottom of tag. I think porter people just cut it.

Compare to the pricing with porter and corner, they can all be more expensive or cheaper than US retail, depends on the brands.

For porter, they import good from the designer manufacture directly, then they will decide the price of the item should be.
For corner, I believe there's a more complicated US import tax issue going on. Although we don't see it.

Sometime, people can find for same jacket, different price on Porter / Corner and Park n Bond.

But it really doesn't matter if they have deep discount. If one item's price is 100 higher on porter, after 80% discount, it deems to be $20 higher.

Consider the service and tax saving. People make their decision. For guys want to save money when buying designer goods, it's your responsibility to check the price of each website. No one ever claim everything item they sell are at US retail price. Remember the MSRP means manufacture SUGGESTED retail price. and it could mean nothing.

Just copped this from the Mr. Porter UK site.  I really like it.

One small thing that bugs me about them is that the same day NYC delivery is the most expensive option. If it were free I would order from them more often.
If you're in NYC and choose the free shipping option isn't it basically overnight anyways? You can't wait that one day?

+1, and return is easier, just drop off at UPS. or call UPS to pick-up.

ordered shoes from Mr.P UK. Since I was already ordering shoes and paying $45 for shipping, I figured I would pick up a pair of gloves. next day, Mr. P emails me to say the shoes are out of stock. I respond to tell them to cancel my order. 12 hours later it ships. Scarf = $25, Shipping = $45. Shipping twice as expensive than the item being shipped = priceless.

For people who don't mind paying extra for same day delivery.

Yes. It's so private. When you earn lots of money on wall street and don't have time to shop on madison ave. Just do it at porter.

I see it being mainly there for "last minute shoppers". Someone who has a get together to go to or a trip they didn't fully pack for while they are still stuck in the office. Place an order on Mr.Porter while at your desk and get the product in only a few hours. Show up at party, make profit.

Working retail I run into many people who are shopping for an event that night. I hate being in that predicament but it is good for the store as customers are bound to settle much more.
