"Non- Cashmere" sweaters for the office (solids, crew and v -neck) - Ideas and Recommendations?

I did a quick search and did not find a comparative topic on SF, so here goes.

I'm all 'cashmered out' at the moment and, after a frenzy of buying during the recent sales, realized that I neither posses good quality wool v-neck and crew neck sweaters that I can use in an office environment. Quick research tells me that Merino wool is high quality wool, and the finer the better.

I want to buy a few such sweaters for the office (can't wear cashmere all the time) and am looking for ideas an recommendations. I am looking for crew necks or v necks, solid colors, conservative styling, and high quality. I also want the sweaters to be durable - they should last a few seasons.

Your suggestions on brands and where I can find them would be very helpful.

I can start: Not sure if this can be used in an office environment, but here it is:

Anderson's of Shetland Shaela Everest Double Knit Crew, sold on Inventory

They may not be the quality you are looking for, but I am a big fan of the Banana Republic v-neck Merinos. They can be had now for about $30-$40, too.

H&M and Lands' End Canvas wool/cotton v-necks are slim-fit and quite awesome for the price. They also come in many subdued and saturated colors. Make sure to size down and you'll be good.

I'm a big fan of the Lacoste V-Necks. Very conservative yet stylish look. They have a nice selection in a blend of wool/cashmere.

That would not fly in my office. What kind of work/environment is it?

Howard Yount has some very nice lambswool sweaters. I just got one and I'm enjoying it a lot so far. They're on sale now too. If they have your size, I'd act quickly. They sell out fast.

That stupid logo makes them not conservative.

I second Howard Yount V-Necks. Good fit, nice range of colors, reasonable price.

+1 to H&M. They don't get a lot of love around here, but if you're on a budget, you can't do much better than $30 for their merino v-necks. They obviously aren't built to last a lifetime, but I have several and have been wearing them consistently for about a year without any noticeable flaws appearing.

For the HY v-necks, what sizing would you recommend? The description says they are cut trim. I normally wear a medium (as a 40-41) but have a thicker/athletic build (with a 34 waist). Should I size up?

In terms of cheap merino V-necks, I can also vouch for GAP. For a couple of years, one relative of mine would send me GAP vouchers at every birthday and Christmas. I spent them almost exclusively on merino V-necks because I was so happy with them.
