Fabric gurus - advice required re mohair versus silk blend?

Hello Gents,

I'm getting married on a Florida beach in July and have been planning my wedding suit for some time.
I was pretty much set on a lightweight, light silver-gray sharkskin that would also be a smart option for future semi formal summer events.

I was at the tailor yesterday and viewed once again my choice of a 7.5 oz. H and S in 80% worsted, 20% kid mohair with a subtle sharkskin sheen. I was just about to pull the trigger when he showed me another fabric.
The colour was similar but it was 55% worsted, 45% silk with slightly more sheen but still subtle enough to not be mistaken for a mis-placed mafioso. The other thing I liked about the silk was that it could be finished on either side, with one side being darker but the other a couple of shades lighter than my original choice, which I like the idea of for a hot outdoor event.

Can anyone provide any other insights, pros and cons etc. between mohair and silk which will help me decide? He has so many nice fabrics in there I really am spoilt for choice, but was hoping someone might have some pearl of wisdom which would help me choose.

Cheers in advance, TWD.

My uneducated guess would be that the mohair would be cooler to wear in the heat of a Miami summer.

Hardly any difference if the same weight. Silk will probably wear pretty quickly though compared to mohair but in many respects mohair has rather similar characteristics like memory retention and sheen.
