Singapore meetup: 19/20 Jan 2012

My girlfriend and I will be in Singapore Jan 18-23. After conferring with gshen we have decided that we should arrange a dinner on either Thursday the 19th or Friday the 20th at Blue Ginger. Then a bar afterwards; candidates include the Tippling Club.

 

Please rsvp if interested and state your preference for which date. I propose 7pm but am flexible.

Alas, I won't be in town. If you decide to hop over to Kuala Lumpur, give me a shout.

You should probably consider a bar with stronger air conditioning. Maybe the bar in the lobby of the Fullterton Bay Hotel? One of the new ones in Asia Square? If whisky and a clubby room is what's called for, then definitely Auld Alliance at Chijmes.

Hey Kent,

The lobby of Fullerton Bay Hotel makes some really good, and interesting martinis. There are several other fantastic options for cocktails in Singapore. Bar Stories is one; the rooftop bar at Maison Ikoku is another; and there's a new speakeasy called "28".

I know the chaps who run both Bar Stories and the bar at Ikoku, so seats there shdn't be a problem at all. Looking forward to meeting you in Singapore.

i would also suggest nektar for the artisanal hidden cocktail bar vibe. but beware of supercar driving douchebags.

Very true. But. The douchebags are also behind the bar mixing drinks, I find.

Opened maybe less than a month ago. Leslie runs the shop there, was previously from Klee, Bar Stories, and Drinks Culture (so glad he left the last place).

I'll be in Langkawi and possibly Penang from Jan 23-31 and KL Feb 1-2. I don't know how much interest there is in KL, but at the least we could have a small meetup.

Oh really? Maybe 8 then? I'm concerned if we do dinner too late then some might not want to stay out too late for drinks.

 

Currently we seem split between Thursday and Friday. Let's see who else responds.

What about Ku De Ta on top of MBS?

Threre is also a nice Cigar lounge at Robertson, but can't recall the name.
