Formal Fashion Help

Hello,

I am a young man, basically a kid, who is going to a school dance. I know what I should wear but my problem is I don't have my ideal clothes accessible at this time. The event is semi-formal first of all. I was thinking about wearing a Cordovan & Grey navy blue blazer, A Brooks Brothers white non-iron shit, a black satin tie or bow tie, grey wool pants, and brown weejuns. I do not have any black pants, or a black vest, or even black weejuns, please give me help

I've always found the blue SC gray trousers combo a bit... well, boring. And you might be mistaken for an airline employee. Not exactly groundbreaking, but I'd go with tan trousers. I'd also consider throwing a pocket square into the mix to liven things up a bit. Nothing too avant-garde, as it's easy to go overboard, and I think it'd really clash with the more traditional look of the navy SC/tan pants look. Fit is also crucial. I don't know how much you're willing to spend, as this seems to just be a one-night affair, but taking the outfit to the tailors wouldn't hurt at all. Good luck.

Oh, and welcome.

Give me a break, it's a kid going to a school dance.

OP, don't wear a pocket square, and I wouldn't do the bow tie. If you have anther tie option, consider a Navy pindot, houndsooth or other conservative pattern. Just wear what you described, try to do your best to make sure everything fits (not oversized - it makes you look sloppy) and you will be fine. Give your shoes a shine.

Pick the hottest girl that's not dancing and go ask her. You would be amazed at how many hot girls don't get asked to dance.

\That lot will do, no one will notice especially - particularly as the function is presumably intended to lead to events later on in the night...
