Europe in February - party destinations?

I might be headed to London for 2 weeks in February and am trying to figure out if there are any other cities that have party scenes worth checking out. I was in Europe in the summer and Barcelona blew me away. I have a feeling it might be dead in the winter.

Also, any hostel recommendations? I did a contiki tour last time, but might do a 3 day hostel stint by myself this time. I'm just looking to meet people.

Berlin hands down, is the best city to party all year round in Europe.

I am not one really go to out and meet new people. Thing is, it is quite easy to interact with people anywhere. My only thing is, do not take the subway after-hours. There is some shady people that take it; like one time I was there some skin-heads trying starting shit people I was with and one of them tossed a full bottle of beer at us. What I can help you with, is some of the best spots to hear really good electronic music. Plus many producers of minimal and techno are based out of Berlin, so that is another reason why there is amazing parties, pretty much all year round.

 

As for hostels, that part I wish I could help you with. I am more of a person to stay at a hotel or rent a condo while on vacation. What can I say, I really enjoy my privacy.

There are quite a few threads about Berlin. Check them out because they contain a lot of ideas.

My ideas: I was in Berlin for a few nights in March last year and thought it was incredible - even during the winter. Some bars/clubs to check out: Tausend (awesome place - not hard to get into but difficult to find), Cookies, King size. For laid back vibe and great cocktails: Windhorst.

Neighborhoods I had time to check out: Mitte (nice) and Kreuzberg (very trendy).

If you're considering other cities I wouldn't turn my nose at Zurich. A lot of people say it's boring/stuffy but we (two 20somethings) found decent night clubs and girls. Berlin/London/Barcelona are obviously better and likely less expensive but it's definitely a good time. You can see and do all you need to here in a day or two nights.

What timing. I just found out I'm leaving next week to go to Berlin and Prague for maybe ten days. I'm curious to hear about where to go in Berlin for some electronic music (outside of the dance clubs.) Any recommendations?
