boat shoes in winter

Thread Starter

I'm considering buying some boat shoes. I know they're great for the summer, but I'm thinking of buying them for the winter and wearing them with jeans or chinos. Is this a good idea? Do they last well in the winter? I'm in Canada where the winters can be harsh (though i'm going to try to wear the boat shoes only when there's no rain or snow). What do you guys think? considering the tan colour, by the way. Thanks for the help in advance!

I wear mine sometimes during the winter but I never really like how boat shoes look with pants/jeans on. So I mainly stick with shorts for those. I pretty much wear my desert boots and sperry chukkas exclusively during the winter.

I think it's wrong; albeit pretty common.

I think of boat shoes as strictly summer clothes/beachwear. So no, I wouldn't wear boat shoes in winter. Wouldn't you want to have at least a mid/high top sneaker or boot for the puddles?
