Need opinions on short sleeve shirts.

Hi all,

I'm about to get some short sleeve shirts made soon. I'm indecisive of the length. I'm not sure if I should have them made at my regular body length and tuck the shirts in or have them made a bit shorter and wear them untucked. The shirts will be for the summer. My company's dress code is business casual so if you're wearing a sports coat, you're going to outshine 99% of the folks.

I will be wearing them with slacks if this tiny bit of info matters. Thanks in advance.

Don't wear them untucked with slacks.

I always thought it was not recommended to wear short sleeve dress shirts unless your a manager at a fast food restaurant or you're a shoe salesman.

Are you saying that you're getting short sleeve shirts because wearing a sport coat would be too much?

I have a few short-sleeve SPORT shirts (Not dress shirts) that I will wear when the weather is good but really only in a casual scenario (with slim shorts & boat shoes or loafers). I think its very important that they be slim fitting and that the short sleeve ends WELL before your elbow. I would avoid wearing them with slacks/trousers/dress-pants. I think the only place they have is to be worn with shorts (or MAYBE jeans or a light-weight chino), but I can't stress enough that they must be fitted.

+1 to everything said here about short sleeve dress shirts, they just look BAD. You dont want to look like "Nick Burns: Your Company's Computer Guy"

Wearing short sleeves work -- depends where you live, what you do.

The bottom should be cut square, not regular, if the shirt will be worn untucked.

Short-sleeve sport shorts, sure. Short-sleeve dress shirts, no.

No. I'm getting short sleeve shirts made because the summer is pretty hot around these parts, at least 90 degrees.

I was using the sport coat as an example to show how business casual the culture of my company is. I still wear suits sometimes though because I want to even though it's not required. Luckily, my department is filled with fashionistas so I can pretty much do SW&D and MC almost to my pleasing.

I have a few short sleeve sport shirts as well, nothing custom..just from an OTR fashion forward brand. I like my shirts pretty fitted so they will definitely not look like the fellow in your picture. This picture was from a couple of summers ago. This is pretty much how I wear the shirt when not at work, and sometimes with shorts like you mentioned.
