SB/DB 3-piece- looking for some inspiration on details

Apologies in advance for yet another "OMG wedding suit" thread, but I've searched and lurked pretty extensively and come up with very little.

Looking for this for my wedding in the mid-atlantic, early september- and fairly set on the combination of a SB peak lapel jacket with a DB waistcoat, likely in something a few shades darker than blogger/AF blue, ideally 8-11 oz in weight.

What does the hive mind say with regard to the number of buttons/ stance of the DB waistcoat- I was leaning towards 4 buttons with a slight V. I was thinking moderate peak lapels on the vest, and slightly sub-Lapo on the jacket (7-8" or so on a ~43L), with one or two buttons (I know that one is the classic, but I feel like two would be a lot more versatile, especially without the vest). I figure hacking and/or ticket pockets would push it over the edge to just costumey. Would an odd vest be too casual for a wedding? (It will be daytime and outdoors, so no black tie or anything).

I assume such a beast does not exist in the world of RTW? I was thinking of working with mytailor/ hemrajani, but I don't know how much they do in terms of customization, their stock styles don't really look like what I am looking for. I'm not officially SF Baller-status™, and trying to keep it under 2k or so. Is it a fool's errand at that price point?

Also looking for general SB/DB inspiration, it seems very difficult to find many examples from WAYWRN or the last half-century in general.

Thanks

Whilst I don't have any answers to your specific questions, I would like to raise one issue. If you are going to wear a three piece, of any configuration, please ensure that there is a good degree of overlap between your trousers and waistcoat. There should not be any hint of waistband or shirt visible. It seems to me that most three-pieces available now are simply two-pieces with a waistcoat supplied.

This is, of course, cheap for the manufacturers, but it fails entirely to address the issue of shirt exposure.

8" lapels? Seriously?

Absolutely. I like the high waisted look anyway, and a big appeal of the SB/DB combo is that it plays to that aesthetic better than most other combinations out there, and would be ruined by a big patch of shirt under the vest..

Eh, that is why I am asking- if it would look truly ludicrous I'm not hell-bent on it.

It's a fairly brash look to begin with I think, but that is kind of the idea. What would you suggest?

Esp for a wedding you want to wear something more classically styled not something you might think looks ridiculous in 10 yrs. 8" lapels def fall in that category.

Yeah, agreed that 8" would be a bit much- that would be out past the shoulder seam if I'm not mistaken, and certainly not what I had in mind.

Not the first time on the internet that someone has added a few inches onto something to make it sound more impressive. 4 to 5" seems much more reasonable, no?

3.5" tops. 4" only if you are a heavier man. Maybe you are measuring them differently. But, Jesus, 8 " lapels is beyond costumey, it would be wider than any 1970's lapel and would look just plain ridiculous. They are lapels, not wings.

Hi all,

I'm going to try to revive this thread, as it's what came of a search for sb jacket/db vest.

Also going to be wed this year, and am working with Samuelsohn MTM. I'm told that they are able to accomplish a DB vest with a SB jacket.

So here goes. 525

From the impecibly attired folks at "The Armoury", I draw inspiration.

Because we can only see a hint of the vest below, I'm guessing at the number of buttons on the vest. It's unlike most DB I've come across... cut much lower than most, so I'm thinking 4 buttons total... Can anyone shed some light on this style?

As for details, the suit will be in as dark a blue as I can find without being black, between 8-9oz. Leaning toward a peak lapel for a touch of formality in an informal outfit.

White shirt.

Champagne tie (grenadine appropriate for my own wedding?)

Rounded collar with gold pin.

My grandfathers gold pocket watch to adorn the waistcoat.

Added to my shiny new gold wedding ring, am I over-accessorizing?

Looking forward to opinions here. Thanks in advance.
