Canadian Members - What to do with store credit at The Bay?

Hi guys,

I recently returned some items I got for Christmas to The Bay and now I have about $800 in store credit I need to use there. Unfortunately a lot of the lines The Bay carries are ones that I haven't heard particularly good things about (like the low-end Ralph Lauren stuff). Can anyone tell me what stuff is worth buying from The Bay? Thanks!

Hugo Boss at clearance prices.

I don't think I've seen Hugo Boss suits at The Bay... Do they only stock them at certain locations? And yeah, I wouldn't pay full retail for anything there.

They have decent stuff out southgate if in Edmonton and I am told even better downtown Calgary.

If you are ever out in Van, the one here has-for your gf- chloe, dsquared, theory, RLBL,CDG, moschino, etc. i believe the T.O. has the same.

For you.. underwear...socks...bay blanket...

well the one here in Toronto's pretty good actually... there's a nespresso shop for example, and we have the 'white space' with a lot of higher end niche designers...

for $800? I dunno, maybe some kitchen equipment, or new linens, or get something shipped from Toronto. Or hell just sell it for $750 on Craig's List.

Brand-spanking-new microwave, turbo blender, super duper toaster & kettle, the most expensive knife set in the store, yada yada yada.

Or put it on eBay.

Pass on clothing from the Bay, it's all pretty much generic, but an appliance or two. Until they come up with a decent menswear, apart from outlet grade crap, I'd get some useful stuff for the home. New TV, kitchen gadgets or some furniture if you spent all your money on clothes and neglected your crib. You can always get cheap socks, underwear and linen at Winners. Same brands, but usually cheaper. Or new glasses if you need them. A winter vacation sounds great too.

The housewares idea isn't a bad one, but my main needs right now are mostly wardrobe-related. I'd like to pick up another suit or possibly a blazer or sport coat and a couple of pairs of odd trousers. Maybe selling the card and then doing some online shopping would be a better approach. Does The Bay carry any decent lines of men's clothing or are they all cheap knockoffs at this point?

The Bay carries both Strellson and Bugatti. Both similar brands to Hugo Boss. I don't mind Ben Sherman, RL or Penguin for casual wear as well.

If you are ever in Toronto, I would suggest visiting the Queen Street Location or Yorkdale location for Topman shops....

That being said, never found anything of my style at the Bay.... I would just use the credit for appliances or electronics! :)
