Hello

I am new to this great style forum and need help trying to identify the short cut peacoat Ryan Reynolds is wearing. The picture was taken Dec 21, 2011 in Vancouver. I have searched everywhere trying to find out, so now I am asking the experts in this forum. Thanks

It's a plain DB peacoat with angled hand pockets and cuff 'buckles'/adjusters (what's the proper name for those?). You can find that all over the place, and the lack of other details is going to make it almost guaranteed impossible for anyone to ID this one specifically. But it does appear to have a functional lapel buttonhole and button, meaning you can button it all the way up to the neck, and this sets it apart somewhat.

I know Marc Jacobs and Marc by Marc Jacobs have both made plain peacoats like that in the last two winter seasons, either pure wool or blended with cashmere, priced around $700-1100. I expect most all-purpose clothiers would offer something similar (though with slight variations on pocket style and may not button up to the neck), so try Brooks Brothers etc if that's more your style or price range.

the lapels are pretty small for a peacoat, though. that might help in ID'ing it. other than that though, no fucking clue.

Good point about the slim lapels. That doesn't rule out Marc Jacobs, as he designs to be fairly fashion-forward, but it also brings Thom Browne and Band of Outsiders to mind, and I know they both make peacoats regularly.

All good advice here but I have to disagree with the Brooks Brothers comment. I am a 36-Slim38 (somewhere in between), and I owned the current Brooks Brothers wool peacoat (the MSRP$600 one) in size small. It is pretty roomy with heavy cloth and very structured shoulders. It definitely does not have slim lapels either. If this is the look you are going for I think you should avoid the BB Peacoat. Its a nice coat, but not that similar to this IMO

The peacoat has a shorter cut then the basic peacoats I have seen. This is what makes it so interesting.

it is not JCrew or any other brand that I know of. Any suggestions?
