Hong Kong Tailoring - hoping for some guidance

Hi All - this posi is addressed to those of the forum members who have experiences in bespoke tailoring in hong kong. I will be in hk for a week in may and have been thinking of getting some suits made when I am in hk.

In terms of bespoke, I had done this once in hong kong but it wasn't a good experience. I have since done more reading and I have the following in mind.

I want to make two suits - one of a top end tailor and one from medium price one. For top end I am thinking either WW Chan or AMHC. For the medium range I am thinking maybe Peter lee of lee baron..I know the top end suit would cost me $10k-$15k HKD and the mid range $6-7k HKD ( am thinking a 3 piece).

Since this is no small sum, I am considering the CMT option if possible. I don't know a lot about fabrics (in fact I don't know much) but from reading the forum I gathered you have done something similar so I wanted to get your views on this.

A few starting questions if you could spare the time:

1) do you know where I could get some high quality fabrics? h&s, scandal, vbc etc?

2) do you need to have a good knowledge of fabric in order to know what you are buying or was there help on site?

3) how much do you end up saving, per suit, following this approach,

4) in the end, do you feel this is worth the time/hassle over just plain bespoke at the tailors?

Any other opinion I would be much appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Another first time poster too idle to use the 'Search' function and who expects everyone to rush to help him.

Put 'Hong Kong' in search and all your questions and more will be answered far more thoroughly than another thread is likely to achieve.

Thanks. Perhaps my question was not specific enough but believe it or not I have been searching (what I thought to be) extensively on the forum, had also PM another poster who had a similar experience. I didn't recall finding a lot of post in regards to experiences relating to purchasing fabric but happy to try again.
