Winter Fedora recs?

Living in Chicago, the winters are brutal and you need protection. One area I've never covered is my head, as I've always felt knit caps, baseball caps, hoods, and ear flaps didn't go with business dress. This year, I'm thinking I'd like to try a Fedora from a local place (Hats Plus, it's near City Newsstand, where I snag my car mags every week). Having never worn one, caveats, advice, experiences? Searching, the newest threads are half a decade old...

Chicago is home to arguably one of the best fedora makers still around, Optimo. Has a price to match the reputation, but they make a nice hat.

Just received my new fedora from Black Sheep Hat Works and I love it. Great customer service and they'll make the hat you want at a really reasonable price. May want to check them out at www.blacksheephatworks.com/ Hope that helps.

I was going to start with something moderately priced, like:

I'm wondering if the brim is a bit wide for winter and Chicago's windy Loop area; a narrower brim might be more practical, yet I'd want something wider than a porkpie.

Maybe this?:

Sorry to be late, but I have a black Borsalino Fedora unworn 7.25 "Alessandria" available if you fit and are interested.  Gorgeous hat!  PM if you want more info scans, etc.
