Prometheus (Ridley Scott's Alien "Prequel" ) - Page 44

Majority of 3D films really aren't worth it. Best ones I've seen are Hugo and How to train your dragon. I have heard good things about the Prometheus 3D (although didn't see it myself)

The 3D in the preview of The Hobbit was pretty awful. Looked like a bunch of 2D objects stacked on top of each other. Hopefully the production version will be better.

I'm not a big fan of 3D, if not for the use of the effect alone, the price. I thought Prometheus 3D was great.

3D it is then. Will report back.

Awful film. There is talk of a second and third in this series... I hope it's just talk.

Ridley either had a stroke while shooting it and forgot to make it flow or he had a massive tax bill and he phoned this one in! AVOID

It's not like Ridley Scott hasn't made bad movies before (Robin Hood) and often times the theatrical releases of his movies have had problems that later director cuts make better (Kingdom of Heaven, Blade Runner). I'm just hoping he does something else besides the Blade Runner sequel he was planning to do next.

Robin Hood wasn't a bad movie. I thought it was decent.

After Prometheus I really hope he doesn't do a Blade Runner sequel. Sure it might be quite good, but it looks like it will be commercial and flawed

Ok, just got back. Definitely a good choice seeing it in IMAX 3D. Stunning visuals in several parts. The movie, on the other hand, was a REAL letdown. I was bored to tears in some parts. There was just so little continuity throughout the movie. Much of it felt rushed, unexplained, and out of place. I can't really say that I enjoyed it all that much.

also. running away from a falling space ship. One chick runs in a straight line. One runs sideways. is that fucking natural selection?

Because, when the camera is shooting the running person from below, the space ship appears to be behind her, chasing her down. Of course, from above it would appear like the space ship is falling down on her, and that she has chosen the longest possible line to take to get out from under it.

How about we just leave it up to the fact that with very little time to make a decision, she made a bad one in a state of total panic. That happens to people, you know.

Movie had some plot holes and bad writing, but that didn't strike me as anything to get hung up on.

I'm not sure why so many people have issues with this scene... Some try to justify it as a deeper Vickers lived under her father's shadow her whole life and then his dream squishes her like a bug/theme of not matter what you may think of yourself you are very unimportant in the grand scheme of things, but for me it simply comes down to this:

First, lets remember Vickers has never even left the ship before, she only suited up once and walked out to the loading dock! The ship was her castle of security, she (/her father) even had her own life support chamber, and now it's all gone for her. They said she could survive in the pod for two years, but it took two years just to get there, so... her thoughts are probably along the lines of, "Omg, I'm going to die here! Not me, how can this possibly happen to me??? I was going home!" Then in this probably very panic filled state the ship(s) start crashing down around her. She's probably scared and emotional as hell, not the time when human beings are the most logical. Plus the ship crashes down, then rolls one way, then tips another. All the while pieces of the Prometheus are raining down and crashing all around her... it isn't just the big ship that could kill her, and I'm sure it isn't the easiest to see everything in that suit. So, rather then stand there and look around while fireballs crash all around her she just takes off running away from it all as fast as she can, simple as that.
