Samuelsohn vs Brioni - Page 3

Was your suit comparison at Neiman Marcus or Andrisen Morton here in Denver? Good review and I agree -- Samuelsohn is one of the better MTM deals going. I used to be a tried and true Hickey Freeman Mainline suit guy, but their quality has gone down hill over the past few years. Samuelsohn is on the top of my to buy list.

FWIW, I bought a Samuelsohn SC off an SF member a number of months ago. The construction is fantastic (and I believe it's one of their "everyday" lines) and I particularly like the fit. One thing I will say is I found the waist to be a little slim, but other than that, I love it.

Is there a difference in construction between Samuelsohn and Paul Stuart by Samuelsohn? For example, does PS have more handwork or exclusive fabrics?

Although I can't comment on the thread title as I have only tried on Brioni, I can say I own three pair of Tilford pants. These are Samuelsohn made for Harry Rosen. They are great pants. However, comparing these pants to say Howard Yount (Yount is actually cost less at regular price), I can confirm that Yount is superior in construction and material. Based on this I would speculate the same is true for Brioni.

I regularly pass on Sauelsohn suits at the thrifts that are not my size. Doesn't seem to be an appetite for them on B+S. Hopefully this thread changes that view.

Please get them! (if they are 42/44 R or L)

I am assuming these are patterns/colors that people would actually wear mind you, and that they don't have dated, super wide lapels.

But as to Sammy- GREAT value, I get all my stuff MTM through them now.

They overextended themselves a bit last year doing some house stuff for NM etc and their MTM work slowed down/missed some deadlines. But the quality is great.

I should clarify that I usually wear a 42L, but there have been several times that 42R fits me best.

But probably my glutes and thighs. I used to do power-lifting/football until I fractured my vertebrate a few years ago. I've even lost 30-40 pounds since then

Samuelsohn has long been a good value. My father was using them exclusively for the last 30 years from H. Rosen (he's now retired). Only recently however have they been doing more modern leaner cuts like the newest Arno. TBH anything but Arno is more old-manish. Also the fabrics offerred were always a little less luxurious than Zegna, Canali, brioni on average. The do/did have more luxurious suitings available sometimes RTW and MTM. For instance the $1095 for MTM during the promotion still isn't for the nicer suitings. I have an Arno with S150 windowpane suiting and OTR it was $1595 (got on sale for $1095) at Rosen. A really good well priced suit with nicely done rope shoulders.

At a size 34 I would guess it's near impossible to get RTW. Given his budget, and the fact that he's in Canada, hopefully Samuelsohn will have some fabrics worth making into a suit. I believe everything theymakeo is fully canvassed, and the suit I own has very nice soft shoulders.

Does anyone in the US offer Samuelsohn MTM?
