White Rubber Sole Boots

Thread Starter

Hi,

I'm interested in getting white rubber sole boots similar to these:

http://d.pr/mJpj [h by hudson]

http://d.pr/2qJA [fred v-wings]

I like the fred V wingtips - anyone have a recommendation for a similar wingtip with white rubber that isn't $440 and *doesn't* have the tan lining between the sole and black leather?

Also i'm not sure if the sole is tacky - it seems like it isn't as classic or classy as a traditional rubber sole. I do prefer a rubber sole for this set of boots. Any thoughts on this? Any reason not to get white soles?

Its one of those brands that im aware of but never really took the time to check out online...

They're nice, im not sure they're as refined as i'd like them to be.

I like the white soles also. These are very similar visually to the Grenson Freds:

I own the Aldo "Blake" boots which is similar to the Smyser, but with a regular leather sole. There is an entire thread devoted to the Blake versus the Fred, but the overall view that the Blake is quite a decent boot.

These are great - both in style and cost. Of course the Fred's are sick. What color did you get in the Blakes?

I bought them in cognac. I really like them. Cannot stand most styles of Aldos, but like these. If the Smysers ever go on sale in cognac, I'll probably jump on those too. But two colors are currently on sale for $104. Here is the thread where these are discussed in more detail:

Vibram is the best white soles, I think. But i have usually only seen it on 400 + shoes

you can also get some vintage oxford boots or any shoe and have a cobbler put some Vibram's on!

Generic Man has some great ones with white Vibram, and I think gilt has generic man coming up on tues so they might be on there for a nice price!

I've tried on Aldo boots and I must say they are quite comfortable but I think I'm liking the hudson here.
