it can't cross the water soon enough. my god i'm watching the upstairs/downstairs revision and it's like a walking talking ralph lauren ad (and of course, he's a sponsor)

Series three wraps up rather nicely but plants a few seeds which hopefully will be expanded on during the Christmas special. I found the third season far more enjoyable than the disjointed second. However, the big news is whether Dan Stevens will be back to reprise the role of Matthew Crawley for the fourth outing. That and of course Maggie Smith as the Dowager.

Well, I haven't watched it but the bloody papers have the spoilers in the headlines so I feel bad for the other folks in North America who are starting the third series now. But it's worth the time. The third series is much better than the second even if there were a few weak episodes here & there.

That said it looks like the ratings are starting to slip. I wonder if ITV will still commission Fellowes to do the prequel.

Yes - there is. Filiming starts in February. I believe it will be Maggie Smith's last year on contract.

Just watched the special myself. Inveraray castle looked pretty breathtaking. Can't imagine "real" people live there.

I've already seen season 3 as well as the Christmas special. Season 3 is just as refined as S1 and 2. Something really stunning happens in the xmas special.
