Giorgio Armani at TJ Maxx?

Thread Starter

First post...don't yell at me. I was told by a friend to come here for help so I'm just following his advice.

I was shopping at TJ Maxx for a Secret Santa gift and came across a Giorgio Armani scarf. I don't think its Emporio or Collezioni because of the lack of eagles everywhere and the simple label that just reads "Giorgio Armani." I'm just really skeptical about the whole thing because:

1) I bought it at TJ Maxx for $20. Last Call or Off Fifth maybe, but a TJ Maxx? What did this scarf go through to end up here?

2) There is no "made in italy" anywhere

3) Searching the item code brought up nothing

4) Attached to the label is a much longer tag that features a bar code.

I guess it looks and feels "high quality." The small black checkered pattern is cool even though I'm not a fan of the giant brown paisley-esque pattern at each end. What do you all think? Real or Fake?

by the picture im gonna say its real

Maxx will not sell anything fake as they would go to jail for that.

Do you not like this scarf? If so, why are you buying it? What materials is it made out of and how is the quality? I personally do not like anything from GA and I really hope you are bot buying because of the "brand".

I've seen plenty of stuff higher end than TJ Maxx, such as Borreli and Brunello Cucinelli - mostly stuff that are defective (holes and such)...

I'm sure it's real.

Is it a women's scarf? It's not uncommon to fine ladies high end designer's clothing at TJM?

There's no way to know, but no reason to assume anything is fake.

This is the only worrisome bit, but sometimes "Made in Italy" can be on a separate tag sewn (very weakly) to the garment near the first tag or even sewn to the first tag -- and this secondary tag can fall off
3) Searching the item code brought up nothing
Most item codes are for manufacturers' use only and are not meant to yield anything helpful to consumers. Some brands (Moncler) have special authentication codes in their garments to prevent counterfeiting but that's a whole separate issue.
4) Attached to the label is a much longer tag that features a bar code.
There's nothing wrong with that

I guess it looks and feels "high quality."
That's the most important indicator, really, as long as there are no obvious fake giveaways

Look up "secret santa" if you don't know what it is. Your response makes very little sense. He said he liked the pattern on part of the scarf, just not the paisley at each end. But it's a gift, so it doesn't matter anyway.

Isn't this what TJMaxx/TKMaxx primarily sells, seconds and rejects? Plus end-of-lines and old stock.

I think 80% of their stock is past season and old stock (stuff that didn't sell). 20% is defects/rejects.

A Lot of their products are manufactured to order. I used to sell a ton of products to them every year.

Were any tags slashed or marked in marker - if so then its a factory reject.

Otherwise its probably old stock.

What? How does my response not make sense. I don't know about you, but I don't buy things for others that I think are ugly. I actually shop quite a bit for my girlfrined but everything I buy here is Patek approved.

Check out the "official thrift/discount store bragging thread." Lots of folks have been finding tons of high-end stuff at TJ Maxx/Marshall's lately. I've picked up several Kiton 7-fold ties, as well as Canali's and Borreli's at my local Marshall's. Rumor has it they've picked up a lot of the old stock from Wilkes Bashford stores that closed.

the missing of labels could be the defect that cause that item to end in there.
